Season: 4 / Episode: 20

Given that everyone in Class 1-A has had to deal with at least villain attacks (some certainly more often than others) and have done so with a fair degree of confidence and levelheadedness, it’s easy to forget that they are still just a bunch of teenagers. “Gold Tips Imperial” continues the School Festival by reminding us of this simple fact: that despite the maturity they have constantly shown in life-threatening situations, they’re still kids.

It’s Saturday at UA, and Jiro is leading the Band Team, the effects teams are expanding their vision for the performance, and Ashido is trying to get the dance team to pop and lock. Of course, nothing ever goes according to plan because there are some unexpected guests.

Mirio and Eri!

Yeah, out of list of images I imagined seeing in My Hero Academia, Mirio posturing while presenting a school girl Eri certainly was not one of them. Unexpected bodily representations of fruit aside, it turns out that Principle Nezuku has approved Eri’s visitation to the school, but he wants to get her acclimated to the place before the full sensory overload of the School Festival. All of the work study students are ecstatic to see Eri out and about, and the rest of Class 1-A welcomes her with open arms. Everyone decides to take five so Deku and Mirio can show Eri around the school.

Mirio explains the festival and dorm system to Eri, while also getting stopped by some of his former classmates who see Eri and immediately ask if she’s his daughter (a question Mirio awkwardly does not answer). Seeing all of the students prep for the festival brings back [insert adjective of your choice] memories of high school, with all the construction and planning. Our touring trio runs into Class 1-B who are also putting on a show: Romeo and Juliet and the Prisoner of Azakaban: The Return of the King.

There is something very appropriate about the hero’s whose quirk is copying other quirks straight up throwing three different stories into a blender and calling it completely original.

Up next is a visit to fellow Big Three Member, Nejire Hado, who is currently preparing for the Beauty Pageant that Aizawa did not inform Class 1-A about. Nejire Hado was last year’s runner up, and she’s looking to take the title her senior year. Both Midoriya and Eri are impressed for drastically different reasons. Tamaki’s also there for emotional support and some self-deprecating comedy.

Next up is the Development Studio with the Support Class and our favorite inventor, Mei Hatsume. She is very much working on so many different projects and said projects are also still prone to unexpected, inexplicable explosions

The trio gets lunch and Midoriya learns that Principle Nezuku had to use a lot of their clout to hold the school festival since UA is a high-profile villain target and Japan is without its Number 1 Hero. This only motivates Midoriya even more to make sure Eri has a great experience at the festival, and he goes off to meet up with the dance team only to find that he’s been co-opted by the special effects team who need something strong to carry Aoyama. Midoriya’s disappointed at first, but realizes that Eri will still see him dance at the beginning and making sure the show is memorable is the goal of the entire group.

Afterwards, he heads to train with All Might to try and utilize his air blasts more effectively which ends up just mirroring their first interactions with All Might’s intuitive grasp of All for One making him a less than ideal teacher for Midoriya. Still, neither is discouraged. Mei then crashes the party as she’s testing out another one of her babies and lets Midoriya know that she’s also found the time to work on some new equipment. This also unearths some expected news for the fanboy in Midoriya as he discovers that his idol used support items.

Back at the dorms, the students are chilling and when Uraraka’s just trying to bring him some Gold Tips Imperial Black Tea, she sees Midoriya in full goblin mode: on the intensive google search life, trying to find any visual evidence on the fifth page of results.

Of course while he’s doing this, he stumbles upon one of Gentle’s videos, and there is an unease that fills the air. Which is justified as the scene shifts to Gentle and La Brava. See Gentle is a villainous content creator with a penchant for tea, but he’s very much got a plan to infiltrate UA and make sure he has time to partake in the titular Gold Tips Imperials. He knows the path he’s gonna take, the tea shop he’s gonna stop at, the means to bypass security. And that’s gonna be a problem since if there’s even a hint of trouble the school festival’s gonna get canceled and after everyone’s hard work, that’d just crush morale and Eri’s heart, and we can’t have that…

The episodes ends in proper by giving us a little bit of insight into the back of Gentle and La Brava. They are certainly an odd couple, but you can tell they have their convictions and if nothing else, that makes them a different type of dangerous than anything we’ve seen in the My Hero Academia universe thus far.

John Conner III, a well-known dancer and former instructor on Lifetime’s popular series Bring It, was sentenced in Tennessee to nine months in prison and four years of probation on Friday after he was found guilty of having unprotected sex with an underage dance student, exposing the teen to HIV.

In November Conner pleaded guilty to charges of criminal exposure to HIV, statutory rape by an authority figure, and solicitation of a minor, according to WREG.

As a requirement of the case Conner will have to remain on the Sex Offender Registry for life.

Conner was 26-years-old at the time of the incident, and the teen was 16-years-old. The two reportedly met online and agreed to meet one another where they partook in unprotected sex in Conner’s car. Conner was diagnosed with HIV in 2012, but failed to disclose that information to the student at the time of their sexual relationship.

The teen who housed aspirations to become a dancer later joined Conner’s team, the Infamous Dancerettes, where they continued exchanging sexual text messages and nude photos.

Conner got national attention during the first season of the Lifetime reality TV show, Bring It, following the dance leadership of Coach Dianna “Miss D” Williams and her Dollhouse Dance team in Jackson, Mississippi. Conner appeared on the first season of the show as a coach of the Dynamic Diamond Dollz. In season two he returned as the coach of the Infamous Dancerettes.

However a year after their relationship began, the teen learned that Conner was HIV positive and informed his parents who encouraged him to get tested. The test came back positive.

Conner awaits two similar cases, reports WREG — one involving a 17-year-old sexual partner and the other based on allegations from a 24-year-old victim.

A Denny’s waitress from Memphis, Tennessee, is about $4,561.61 short to be exact, after claiming her employer failed to release the enormous tip left to her by a recent patron of the restaurant.

According to the Atlanta Black Star, Shikira Edwards is reportedly seeking legal action in an attempt to recover the money. Edwards was a three-year employee at Denny’s serving the location on Winchester and Riverdale Road in Memphis. She has since left the restaurant in the days following the back and forth between her and her employer.

Last month several local news outlets reported Edwards’ luck and elation after her manager told her she would be receiving a generous tip.

“It’s just such a blessing to have good people like that that are still here and that God did answer my prayers, because he knows what I go through,” Edwards told FOX 13 in a February interview. “For someone to look at me and bless me in that way, in that way shape or form, there’s no blessing too high or too low for God, and I appreciate her so much.”

But after three weeks, there’s been no payment. Edwards claims her manager informed her that she would have to track down the patron and verify that they intended to give the written amount on the receipt.

“I’m just hurt that they would tell me something like this as a business and as being the owner to tell me that this is the only resolution as to look at if I’m wrong to ask for something I know I deserve,” said Edwards.

Since that time, Edwards has not been able to track the person down and doesn’t rule out foul play in the matter.

“You’re going to tell me that it’s my fault that I didn’t get the information on a customer when they left and tipped me,” Edwards said. “I don’t know who tipped me.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if because of what they’re going through already that they need it more than I do,” she continued.

According to Atlanta Black Star who interviewed the location’s owner, the transaction was voided by management because the transaction could not be verified.

Edwards hopes that another stroke of luck will culminate with the person revealing themselves.

“I just hope that at the end of the day, no matter what, that justice is served,” said Edwards. “And I just think it’s wrong to be lied to. I pray that whatever is done in the dark should come to light.”

Better Call Saul more than stands on its own as a great television show. But it’s also one of the best prequels in television history because it gives added context and depth to Breaking Bad. Exploring Jimmy McGill’s transformation into Saul Goodman has enriched the experience of watching Walter White’s own descent into evil. The third episode of Better Call Saul‘s fifth season, which also marked the return of our two favorite DEA agents, has directly connected each show’s main characters in a way neither they nor viewers could have imagined. Saul Goodman inadvertently set in motion the events that brought Walt and Jesse Pinkman together—a union that destroyed all of their lives.

Better Call Saul‘s last episode revealed how Domingo got his Breaking Bad-era nickname: he made a terrible fold in a poker game and was thusly dubbed “Ocho Loco,” which would eventually become “Krazy-8.” (In fairness, that was only a terrible fold if you want to win money. Probably smart if you want to appease your sociopathic boss.) But Domingo’s arrest later in the same episode would result in much bigger connections to Breaking Bad this week.

Nacho told Lalo he had “the guy” for Domingo’s legal problems. They hired Saul Goodman to be his “lawyer,” but Jimmy’s real job was delivering a message/script. Lalo is desperate to hurt Gus Fring’s standing with the Cartel, and Domingo’s arrest provided an opportunity. Domingo offered the DEA information about massive money drops, which are part of Gus’ drug business. That huge hit to Gus’ bottom line could potentially make him unable to make Cartel payments. So long as Gus keeps bringing in big money, he’s safe from the Salamancas.

Domingo’s information led to one of the most exciting Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad crossovers yet, featuring DEA agents Hank Schrader and Steven Gomez (returning Breaking Bad stars Dean Norris and Steven Michael Quezada). They were skeptical of Domingo’s story, but as part of their negotiations with Saul, they agreed to letting Domingo go free if his tips pan out. But snitches needs protection, so Jimmy got the agents to agree to Domingo serving as their own personal criminal informant going forward. He’ll give them info on drug activity in the future and they’ll keep him safe and out of jail.

The entire sequence was fantastic for Breaking Bad fans for reasons that go well beyond reuniting with popular characters. Hank’s deal with Domingo changed the course of everyone’s life in that room, ditto the fates of Walter White, Jesse Pinkman, and everyone who knew them.

In the first episode of Breaking Bad, Walter learned during a ride-along with Hank that his former student was a drug dealer. While Hank and “Gomie” were inside making arrests, Walt saw Jesse sneak out a window and escape. He then blackmailed Jesse into working with him to make meth to pay for cancer treatments. And we know how many deaths and ruined lives that partnership led to.

The only reason Hank and the DEA knew about Jesse’s operation at all was because of their criminal informant. Domingo was the one who tipped them off, selling out Jesse and his own cousin Emilio Koyama. If he hadn’t become Hank’s C.I. years earlier, Walt never would have seen Jesse escape. The two never would have worked together. The events of Breaking Bad never would have taken place at all.

The deal Saul Goodman made for his “client” inadvertently led to Krazy-8’s death in Jesse’s basement. It ultimately led to Hank and Steve Gomez’s deaths in the desert too. And, in a way the characters themselves never realized, it led to Walt and Jesse hiring Saul Goodman as their own attorney. When they needed a “criminal” lawyer, Jesse knew he had better call Saul. (Or kidnap him, as they eventually did.)

That ultimately led to Jimmy McGill becoming Gene, Cinnabon manager on the run.

The best prequels are great unto themselves while also giving added meaning to the original story. That’s what Better Call Saul has always done. And this episode added yet another tragic layer to both. Jimmy McGill’s own lack of morals led to Walt and Jesse’s destructive union and Jimmy’s own demise. Their stories aren’t just connected; they share the same tragic beginning. And for Jimmy, that means he has even more ownership over his own demise. He put his downfall in motion, because Saul Goodman directly led to Breaking Bad and everything terrible that came with it. All because Jimmy was so good at being a bad lawyer.
