’90s kids, rejoice: most of your favorite Nicktoons are now available on NickSplat, a new streaming channel on VRV (the home of Crunchyroll).

And it’s not just Nicktoons they have on offer. NickSplat also boasts a number of Nickelodeon’s live-action shows of yore. (I didn’t audibly squeal when I saw Salute Your Shorts’ first season is available, but it was a near thing.)

Specific seasons of 21 shows are on the lineup. Animated offerings include the first two seasons of AAHHH!!! Real Monsters, ChalkZone, Doug, and Rocko’s Modern Life in addition to the debut seasons of The Angry Beavers, CatDog, KABLAM!, and The Wild Thornberrys.

Then we have the live action list, which is a bit more varied. It includes the first seasons of five game shows (Double Dare 2000, GUTS, Legends of the Hidden Temple, the 2016 Legends reboot, and Nick Arcade); the second season of All That and the first seasons of its two spinoffs Kenal & Kel and The Amanda Show; two seasons each of narrative oddballs Are You Afraid of the Dark? and The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo; the first seasons of Clarissa Explains It All and the aforementioned Salute Your Shorts; and season one of Hey Dude. (I’m putting Hey Dude last because I’m bitter it got a slot and Welcome Freshmen didn’t.)

A handful of shows—Hey Arnold! and Ren & Stimpy among them—are notably absent from the list. But given that this partnership between VRV and Nickelodeon is alive and well, I can’t imagine that’ll last. In the meantime, there’s more than enough to fill your days the same way you did every single summer throughout elementary school.

Which show are you most psyched to rewatch? Let us know in the comments!

INFINITY WAR Tribute Video Remembers All The Avengers’ Sacrifices

http://nerdist.com/avengers-infinity-war-tribute-video-remembers-sacrifices/

The Avengers might be strong and they might be brave, but as a haunting and beautiful fan tribute video shows, there’s something else that makes them Earth’s mightiest heroes. They have sacrificed everything to protect the universe, something they have in common with their greatest enemy.

The latest video from one of our favorite YouTube channels, The Garo Studios, pays homage to the people the Avengers have lost along the way. Long before Thanos, who knows what it means to sacrifice the ones he loves to do what he thinks is right, turned half of the universe to dust, the Avengers knew what it meant to lose what they care about the most. That’s what makes them heroes–not that they do what’s right when it is easy, or even that they do what’s right when it is hard, but that they continue to do what’s right long after others would have lost their will to fight.

Oh no. Oh no it it still way too soon after the Snapture for that.

If you’re thinking that’s one of the best fan videos you’ve ever seen you’re not alone, because it also caught the attention of Infinity War‘s directors, the Russo brothers, who tweeted it out.

Beyond how perfectly done this is, there’s a reason it might have appealed to the Russos. On the Infinity War Blu-ray commentary track, they talked about how lots of heroes are willing to give their own lives, but the far more difficult and nearly impossible decision many of them are asked to make is to give up the life of someone else, like with Wanda and Vision.

Because there are some sacrifices only the mightiest heroes can make.

Be honest, did this make you cry? Tell us in the comments section below which part you found saddest.

The Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Adaptation Has a Cast and Synopsis Now

https://www.themarysue.com/scary-stories-cast/

Horror fans were thrilled when it was first announced that Alvin Schwartz’s popular series Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was going to become a Guillermo del Toro film. The horrendously creepy tales, accompanied by the unforgettable illustrations by Stephen Gammell, traumatized a whole generation of children and will continue to do so on the big screen.

While del Toro has since stepped down from the director role, he continues to be invovled as a writer and producer, giving his full support to the new director André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane DoeTrollhunter). Del Toro is still credited as co-writer on the screenplay with Kevin and Dan Hageman (Lego Movie, Trollhunters), Patrick Melton, and Marcus Dunstan. Del Toro is also producing alongside Sean Daniel, Jason Brown, J. Miles Dale, and Elizabeth Grave.

The details of the project were still mostly under wraps, however, in regards to casting and plot. Today, CBS Films and eOne announced today the cast for Scary Stories, which will star Michael Garza (Wayward Pines), Austin Abrams (The Americans), Gabriel Rush (Moonrise Kingdom), Austin Zajur (Fist Fight), and Natalie Ganzhorn (Make it Pop). They also provided a synopsis, which reads:

“Inspired by one of the most terrifying book series of all time, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark follows a group of teens who must solve the mystery surrounding a wave of spectacularly horrific deaths in their small town.  The five new cast members join the previously announced Zoe Colletti in the ensemble at the heart of the film.”

“We spent months searching for and assembling the perfect group of actors to help us realize the most terrifying adaptation that we could conceive,” said Øvredal.  Del Toro adds, “I am honored to support Andre’s vision and, with our partners, to bring the incredible world of Scary Stories to the screen.”

Are you looking forward to seeing these teen solve some Scary Stories?

Dburt Revisits the Idris as Black Bond Debate (Or His OCD Might Be Real!) An Epilogue…

http://www.afronerd.com/2018/08/dburt-revisits-idris-as-black-bond.html

It appears I'm back on my OCD grind, once AGAIN!  I assure our listeners/readers that THIS will be my final posting on the Idris Elba as James Bond supposition.  I am no genius but I am prone to pensivity on an occasion or two.  Having an epiphany during our last podcast, it became even more clear to me, how an expectant film audience is entitled to a Black and/or minority super agent but not necessarily a MI agent that gets a case of reverse vitiligo in between franchises.  While musing aloud during our infamous Grindhouse show, I thought about how DC's Batman character is truly a some of his parts (i.e. his Bat Cave; Alfred Pennyworth; the Batmobile, etc) and in like-minded fashion, James Bond, too, has a host of idiosyncrasies. How would you recognize your favorite MI-6 agent without his vaunted Aston Martin , spy gadgets or special "shaken and not stirred" dry martini?" Trust me, the attorneys representing the Fleming estate, Eon Productions and MGM are copiously aware of the motifs that are distinctive to the Bond mystique.  So what do the aforementioned quirks have to do with an Africanized Bond?  The short answer is...nothing.  And therein lies the conundrum.

First and foremost, one shouldn't have to inject their race/culture into every job, project or endeavor known to man. However, it serves no real purpose beyond the visual aesthetic, if we are going to explore a person of color assuming the 007 cinematic mantle.  Today's movie going audience, especially in the wake of the linear successes of Get Out, The Black Panther and Sorry to Bother You, are extremely sophisticated and demanding of product that elicits worldbuilding and wait for it......character idiosyncrasies.  In the case of Elba or any other Black British actor, he or she (another  oft-discussed gender possibility....Jane Bond) would inherit Euro-Bond's motifs.

Going back to my original premise, I would build (admittedly being completely self indulgent) a better...stronger...faster and Blacker Bond (archetype).  Would he work for a different British Intelligence agency (OSCT? NBIS?).   What kind of tricked out vehicle does he drive?

Does he (or again she...) wear formal clothing that subtly connotes his heritage (hence the African print bow tie)?

Where was a Black Bond educated? (maybe a Hampton/Morehouse/Howard and Oxford combo...maybe he studied medicine at Meharry, ELAM or Harvard).  Who are his associates and what is his spirit of choice?  Just as Tuvok (and more recently, Michael Burnam) is distinct from Mr. Spock and Miles Morales is Spiderman (and not Peter Parker) so should Black Bond (Hughes.....Desmond Hughes).....food for thought.
