Hi everyone! Today I have some interesting updates about things Disney. At Walt Disney World, the Disney Parks division has lost another billion dollars last quarter, but there is some good news. These parks are still making money despite Disney not making as much money as they’re used to. CEO Bob Chapek revealed on the call that when Walt Disney opened in July, it was limited to 25% of total capacity, but that number has since increased to 35%. This increase is also good news to the bottom line because it means that the parks that are open are continuing to grow, which is that much more important with locations like Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris currently closed. While the road back to “normal” will certainly be a long one, this quarter’s results would seem to indicate that Disney’s theme parks are moving down that road right now. If the parks that are open continue to grow, then the operating losses will continue to decline, and at whatever point that Disneyland does reopen, it will be a massive boost to the bottom line.

Disney World confirms increased capacity as the parks are 77% booked for the holiday season.

Over at Disneyland Resort, The Disney CEO Bob Chapek is extremely disappointed in California rules keeping Disneyland closed. Walt Disney CEO Christian McCarthy announced on Thursday on the company’s fourth quarter earnings call that Disneyland is expected to remain closed until the end of the entertainment and media conglomerate’s fiscal first quarter, which falls on December 31.

On December 6, the Villas of the Disney’s Grand California Hotel is going to be opening up which is good news for the Disney Vacation Club, however, the Disneyland hotels will not be taking reservations until December 31 which means that Disneyland is expected to be reopening starting next year in January, maybe March or in the beginning of summer.

The Disney Gift Card accounts will not be available after January 19, 2021 due to website upgrades. The site will instead be incorporating the Disney accounts used for most other Disney websites. The Disney gift card.com will be upgraded on January 20, 2021. As a reminder, your account is not a mobile wallet and should not be considered as such. Always be sure to keep your physical and digital Disney Gift Card(s) with you as it will be required to make any purchases. Once you are live on January 20, 2021, the enhanced site will allow visitors to utilize their existing ‘Disney account’ to login, using the same login credentials across multiple Disney sites and apps including: Shop Disney, My Disney Experience, Walt Disney World.com and Disneyland.com. Prior to the website enhancement on January 20, please be sure that you take the following steps:

Aulani, A Disney resort and Spa are now offering up to 30% off select rooms for 5-night stays from January 4 through March 11, 2021. Guests may book rooms with this offer through March 7, 2021. Those who book through December 1, 2020 will also get a $250 resort credit. You can also save up to 25% on select rooms for a 4-night stay, and up to 20% for a 3-night stay. Guests who book a 4-night stay before December 1, 2020 will get a $150 resort credit.

Ayo Davis has been named to the newly created position of Executive Vice President, Creative Development and Strategy, Disney Branded Television, it was announced by Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Branded Television, to whom she will report. Davis will oversee all live-action programming created by Disney Branded Television for Disney+ and the Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior networks.

Davis will have oversight of scripted and unscripted series, movies and specials, and will manage the teams for Original Development, Current Programming, Original Movies, Unscripted Content, Casting & Talent Relations, Integrated Content Strategy, and Educational Resource Group/D&I. Executives reporting directly into Davis include the following:

• Jonas Agin, VP, Original Series
• Kory Lunsford, VP, Current Series
• Lauren Kisilevsky, VP, Original Movies
• Dan Silver, VP, Originals, Unscripted Content
• Judy Taylor, SVP, Casting & Talent Relations
• Theresa Helmer, Executive Director, Integrated Content Strategy
• Vicki Ariyasu, SVP, Educational Resource Group

In her new role, Davis will help fuel the Company’s Disney+ streaming platform and branded networks with programming geared toward kids, tweens, teens and families that is imaginative, aspirational and reflective of their world and experiences.

In making the announcement, Marsh said, “Ayo’s sophistication and taste elevate every project she touches — and her impact on the television landscape is beyond measure.  As we embark on the mission of bringing more world-class content to Disney-branded platforms, I could not imagine a more perfect executive with whom to partner.”

Davis said, “This is an exciting and incredible time of growth for Disney Branded Television. I am honored to work with Gary and his exceptional team in leveraging a strong legacy of storytelling to create engaging programming for generations of viewers to come.”

An 18-year ABC veteran, Davis most recently held the position of Executive Vice President, Talent and Casting, ABC Entertainment and Disney+. She was integral to many acclaimed series, including ABC’s “The Good Doctor,” Emmy^® Award-winning “American Crime” and “How to Get Away with Murder,” and the Peabody Award-winning “black-ish.” She championed the careers of notable actors such as Viola Davis (“How to Get Away with Murder”), the first African American to win the Emmy Award in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category; Eva Longoria (“Desperate Housewives”), Jesse Williams (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and Golden Globe^® winner Gina Rodriguez.

Among her other contributions is the launch of ABC Discovers, a host of casting initiatives that aim to discover, nurture and create powerful opportunities for up-and-coming talent from around the world. Alumni of the program include Lupita Nyong’o, Gina Rodriguez and Pedro Pascal.

Davis is a member of the board of trustees of Dillard University and on the T. Howard Foundation’s board of directors for which she was also a 2020 award honoree. She was on the 2017 host committee board of Girls Inc. and was a 2016 honoree, as well as a member of Jack and Jill of America Inc., and a supporter of the nonprofit Links Incorporated, an organization that provides community service and mentors youth. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Dillard University.

So last week, I got some of the predictions correct and some of them wrong. I predicted that the Dolphins would actually beat the Rams 31-23 but the actual score was 28-17 Dolphins over the Rams. I predicted that the Eagles would beat the Cowboys 20-13 but the actual score was 23-9 Eagles over the Cowboys. The Cowboys offense continued to struggle and did not even score a touchdown. I also predicted that the Buccaneers would beat the Giants 38-17, but the actual score was 25-23 Bucs over the Giants. The Bucs defense was able to make a play to stop the 2-point conversion which it would have been a tie. I predicted that the 49ers would beat the Seahawks 26-19, but the actual score was 37-27 Seahawks over the 49ers. I predicted that the Packers would win over the Vikings 36-24, but the actual score was 28-22 Vikings over the Packers. I also predicted that the Ravens would beat the Steelers in a shootout 39-31, but the actual score was 28-24 Steelers over the Ravens. So, I got 3 out of 6 picks correctly!

Now let’s move on to week 9 picks, shall we?! The first game I will predict is the Seahawks @Bills game. I think the Bills will beat the Seahawks 30-21. The Bills are trying to win the division this season and Russell Wilson of the Seahawks quarterback can still play really well, but it just won’t be enough to slow the Bills defense down. The next game I will predict is the Broncos @Falcons game. I think the Broncos will beat the Falcons 24-21. The Falcons will probably blow another game to the Broncos if they get to an early lead in the 4^th quarter. The next game I will predict is the Dolphins @Cardinals game. The Dolphins defense really played well last week against the Rams by forcing 4 turnovers. The Cardinals on the other hand are coming off the bye week. I think the Cardinals will beat the Dolphins 31-16 because I don’t think the Dolphins defense will force a bunch of turnovers like they did last week and Kyler Murray and the offense will use the no huddle to keep the defense gashed. The next game I will predict is the Steelers @Cowboys game. Yeah, it’s pretty easy to say that the Steelers will come away with the win easily 41-17 over the Cowboys. The next game I will predict is the Saints @Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football. This is going to be a great game between Saints quarterback Drew Brees and the Bucs quarterback Tom Brady with his new weapon Antonio Brown a wide receiver. I would say the Saints will come away with a victory barely over the Bucs 29-27 in a close game. The last game I will predict is the Patriots @winless Jets game. I definitely think the Patriots can take care of business over the Jets 28-10.

Generation Z may not have invented the art of trolling, but they’ve damn near perfected it. As Trump and his sycophants continue to deny the reality of his election loss, his cult planned to flood Washington, DC for a Million MAGA March. Sidebar, you should not be able to use the phrase “million BLANK march” if don’t have a million people. Just saying. But their plans were thwarted thanks to the unbeatable forces of TikTok teens and K-Pop stans, who flooded the #MillionMAGAMarch hashtag with pancakes.

Yes, pancakes. TikTok personality Shea Depmore urged fellow TikTokers and K-Pop stans to take over the hashtag with images, memes, and videos of “syrupy goodness” to “Make America Pancakes Again.”

Anti-Trumpers quickly hopped on the meme, and soon the hashtag was dominated by all things pancake:

So the K-pop stans on TikTok are taking over the hashtag for Trump's #MillionMAGAMarch by trolling it, posting pictures of pancakes.

The pancake takeover (pancakeover?) isn’t the first time that Trumpers got trolled by the youth. In June, TikTokers and K-Pop fans reserved over a million tickets for a Trump rally in Tulsa, which tricked Brad Pascale and the organizers into building out a massive overflow tent and extra stage. Ultimately, barely 6,000 people showed up to the rally, in a massive blow to Trump’s ego.

It’s no surprise that Generation Z is this politically active. They’ve spent the last 4 years watching Trump torpedo efforts to combat climate change and ignore gun control measures that would help prevent school shootings. His hideous behavior and cruelty has energized an entire generation dedicated to stopping his message of hate.

The MAGA march ended up being a sad affair, with only a few hundred attendees. Even though Trump is still president for another 10 weeks, his loss has disempowered the proud boys and neo-nazis who worship him. And has his legal losses grow, Trump’s efforts to stage a coup grow more and more pathetic. Trump and his motorcade drove by the sparsely attended march, before heading to his golf course.

There’s nothing more delicious than Trump’s loss and humiliation. Except maybe a fresh batch of silver dollar pancakes.
