Elon Musk speaking to the press in the Oval Office

Elon Musk has been a looming figure in Donald Trump’s administration. While he’s postured as a figure with significant political sway, Musk may reportedly bow out of the spotlight sooner than later.

In a column from Politico, Trump reportedly told his inner circle and cabinet members that Musk will be taking a backseat from his government role. In line with this, Musk is also expected to stop being a vocal cheerleader of Trump. According to anonymous Trump allies, there is no fallout between the two powerful figures. It just so happens that Musk will need to tend to his businesses soon and take a supportive role instead.

The Lionsgate Presentation at CinemaCon

https://blackgirlnerds.com/the-lionsgate-presentation-at-cinemacon/

Lionsgate made a major impact by showcasing an action-packed lineup of upcoming films, franchise expansions, and new IPs. Some of the biggest highlights included first looks at John Wick spin-off Ballerina, Francis Lawrence’s Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, and The Housemaid based on the popular best-selling novel of the same name.

Neon a studio that is surely making a name for itself, with recently earning a best picture win for the film Anora, has a number of titles due for release this year. Here’s a list of the following:

Neon’s upcoming slate include:

Splitsville starring Dakota Johnson

Keeper Oz Perkins fall release

– Upcoming Boots Riley film with I Love Boosters with Demi Moore

The Wrong Girls – a stoner comedy with Seth Rogen and Kristen Stewart

Remarks from Cinema United industry professionals were mentioned, but one of the most notable quotes came from CEO Michael O’Leary who is advocating for a longer window for movies to stay in theaters. Nothing short of 45 days to be exact. He also believes, “we should not present see at home options while the film is still in the theaters.”

Ana de Armas came on stage to present her film Ballerina. She discussed the high-intensity training that went into her role. BGN chatted with her in an interview at CinemaCon and you can catch more of her remarks about the film below:

Mark Hamill, Francis Lawrence and David Jonsson came onstage to chat about The Long Walk. This is one of the rare moments we see Mark Hamill play a villain in major role.

Actor David Jonsson, who is having a stellar moment this past year with films such as Alien: Romulus and Rye Lane, spoke of Mark’s character as being not a likeable person, but it was so hard because Mark himself is someone he liked so much. David also added said it was a grueling set to work on. The Long Walk premieres in theaters Sept 12th. The trailer is pretty intense, the best way to describe it is if Hunger Games and Speed had a baby, they would produce this.

Speaking of Hunger Games, Francis Lawrence was back onstage to talk about the next installment Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping which releases in theaters November 20 2026. CinemaCon attendees left the presentation with a free copy of Suzanne Collins’ latest book.

Luca Guadagnino was on video chatting about his American Psycho movie but mentioned he’s traveling and will arrive later to CinemaCon. It’s likely to promote his film After The Hunt.

There was more John Wick news, including a confirmed anime prequel and another sequel. John Wick 5 is indeed happening! Donnie Yen is also set to direct and reprise his role in John Wick: Chapter 4 as Caine for a spinoff film, which begins production in Hong Kong later this year.

The Aziz Ansari movie Good Fortune comes out this Fall.

It was also announced there would be no Michael footage screened at CinemaCon. Micheal Jackson’s biopic only got a mention and no other information was shared. There were no poster displays at CinemaCon for the title either.

Power Ballad with Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas and the two actors show they have great chemistry on screen based on the trailer screened at CinemaCon.

The release date for Now You See Me Now You Don’t is November, 14, 2025.

Paul Feig, Sydney Sweeney, Brandon Skelnar and Amanda Seyfried came onstage to present The Housemaid. Amanda Seyfried says, “We created some really wacky shit”. And Brandon Skelnar adds, “Andrew is pretty fuckin unhinged”.

Jenna Ortega came on stage for Hurry Up Tomorrow she describes the premise of the film is psychological. Also described as a “singular cinematic experience” the film Hurry Up Tomorrow will premiere in theaters May 16.

The film also stars The Weeknd, who came on stage in a surprise pop-up live performance on stage performing one of his most notable singles “Blinding Lights”.

And the presentation ends with a musical performance along with some exciting titles coming our way from Lionsgate and Neon.

When Is The Best Time for Life Goals Like Marriage and Home Ownership? Americans Weigh In

https://www.blackenterprise.com/best-time-to-get-married-buy-a-house-pew-research/

When is the best time to get married, have kids, buy a home, and retire? A recent Pew Research study suggests that the answer depends on who you ask.

The study surveyed 3,600 U.S. adults about the best times to achieve the milestones often associated with the American Dream. Nearly half of those surveyed believed there was no “best age.” Those who believed in an ideal age said getting married, buying a home, and having a child should occur between the ages of 25 and 34. Furthermore, 45 percent of Americans thought the ideal retirement age was in one’s 60s.

Almost half believed there was no ideal age to get married, while 23 percent thought the best age was between 25 and 29. Only 10% of those surveyed said the perfect age for marriage was between 20 and 24.

According to the poll, the age U.S. adults considered best for each milestone differed on religion, political affiliation, age, and income.

Adults under 30 recommended starting a family later than those aged 65 and older. However, Gen Z survey respondents believed that the ideal retirement age was around 60; Baby Boomers, 65.

Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents were also more likely to recommend getting married and having children later in life than their Republican counterparts.

Those who prioritized religion said that it was best to marry and have a child younger compared with those who said religion was somewhat or not at all important in their lives.

Americans in higher income brackets were more inclined to believe that achieving these goals later in life was preferable. For instance, Americans from higher-income households stated that 28 was the ideal age to get married, while those from lower-income households said it was 26.

Additionally, a 2023 Pew analysis revealed that younger Americans were reaching these milestones later in life compared to previous generations.

https://www.blackenterprise.com/5-black-rodeos-cowboy-culture/

Black cowboys and cowgirls are very much a part of American culture and history. In mainstream narratives, their contribution is an aside, as if Black cowboy life is a subgenre to white country culture.

To preserve and celebrate this rich heritage, BLACK ENTERPRISE has highlighted a few Black rodeos that celebrate the existence of the Black riders and their legacy, talent, and resilience. These events are not only a revival of the past but also educate and inspire future generations about the deep-rooted connection between the Black culture and cowboy traditions.

Bill Pickett Rodeo

Bill Pickett Rodeo was founded by Lu Vason in 1984. Named after the Iconic Black cowboy and rodeo performer known for inventing “bulldogging,” the rodeo features Black cowgirls and cowboys competing in events like calf roping, bull riding, steer wrestling, and barrel racing. This rodeo travels the United States and promotes rodeo culture as well as honors and educates audiences about African American contributors in the Old West.

Black Rodeo USA

This organization is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the legacy of African American cowboys and cowgirls. Founded by Lanette Campbell in 2011, Black Rodeo USA hosts events in Las Vegas; Scottsdale, Arizona; Jacksonville, Florida; and Shelbyville, Tennessee. Black Rodeo USA not only showcases traditional rodeo skills and competition, it is a cultural and educational experiences for guests.

8 Seconds Rodeo

In 2023, Ivan McClellan founded 8 Seconds Rodeo, the first Black rodeo in the Pacific Northwest. The Portland, Oregon-based event offers an immersive experience into the world of professional rodeo with competitions like mutton busting and bareback, bronco riding, alongside delicious food, music, and family fun. 8 Seconds Rodeo also offers an opportunity for today’s cowboys and cowgirls to compete for $60,000 in prize money. 8 Seconds Rodeo plans to expand to Philadelphia.

The Black Cowboy Festival & Rodeo

This annual event at Greenfield Farm in Rembert, South Carolina, founded by Mark and Sandra Myers, honors the legacy of African American cowboys. The rodeo features competitions, horsemanship shows, live music, historical presentations, horseback and wagon rides, line dancing and vendors. The next one will be held from May 22 to May 25.

Okmulgee Roy LeBlanc Invitational Rodeo

Started in 1956, this is the oldest African American rodeo still running in the United States. Kenneth LeBlanc is a third generation cowboy and rodeo promoter. His grandfather Charles LeBlanc was one of the founders of a Black rodeo in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The newest rodeo features bull riding, calf roping and barrel racing in addition to live entertainment. Organized by the Okmulgee County Roundup Club, the 2025 rodeo will be held August 8 and 9 at the Bob Arrington Arena.
