John Boyega recently sat down with SYFY Wire to promote his upcoming film, Pacific Rim Uprising. As part of the interview, he was asked, “What would be scariest blown up to kaiju size: an Ewok, ET, a hamster, Gizmo from Gremlins, or a porg?” Boyega quickly answered, “Porg.” This wasn’t a huge surprise. He has previously described how the porg puppets made him feel “itchy” and weirded out on set. “I just naturally don’t like them,” he said back in December. “I don’t … There was, like, little Porgs all bunched together [on the Millennium Falcon], and then there were big ones. I got itchy … They had the puppets blinking and all that kind of stuff. I’m not into it.”

However, this time around he also had an entire, specific nightmare scenario to expound upon. “They eat everything. We’d literally look like little pieces of moving veggie. It’d be a bloodbath. But I’m sensing a Star Wars spin-off for you: The Porg Rises.” I honestly cannot do justice to Boyega’s porg impersonation, so you really do need to watch the interview. (via SYFY Wire)

Things We Saw Today: John Boyega Is Definitely Still Scared of the Porgs

Former South African President Jacob Zuma Faces Corruption Trial

https://www.essence.com/news/south-african-president-jacob-zuma-corruption

Former South African President Jacob Zuma will be indicted for corruption over a $2.5 billion arms deal, but he is planning to fight the 16 charges that will be brought against him. “After consideration of the matter, I am of the view that there are reasonable prospects of successful prosecution of Mr Zuma on the charges listed in the indictment,” chief state prosecutor Shaun Abrahams said on Friday. The charges, stemming from a 90s land deal, have been hanging over Zuma for over a decade. The Supreme Court of Appeal in October upheld a lower court ruling that the decision to drop the charges in 2009 was “irrational,” Bloomberg reports.   As it stands, Zuma is facing twelve fraud charges, one racketeering charge, two corruption and one money laundering charge.   The charges come soon after Zuma was forced to step down as president last month and replaced by new ruling party leader, Cyril Ramaphosa.  Zuma has denied all the allegations against him.

These Full-Body DRAGON BALL Z Tattoos Are Over 9000

http://nerdist.com/full-body-dragon-ball-z-tattoos/

Tattoos are representative of different things. They are used to remember loved ones. They are used to symbolize memories or events in a person’s life. They are also used as a declaration of one’s love for their favorite things, things which mean something to them. From Spider-Man to Star Wars, men and women all around the world use tattoos to show what means the world to them. In the case of Owan Kranseen from Nakhon Pathom Province in Thailand, his love for Dragon Ball Z and its characters is without reproach.

Reported by Kotaku, this is not a long-sleeve t-shirt from Anime World. Owan’s chest, back, and both arms are covered with the characters from the popular cartoon.

Sporting what looks like every character from the series from Goku to Gotenks, you could probably trace a timeline of the Dragon Ball Z’s entirety across Owan’s body if you wanted to. It would probably be the Dragon Ball Z Kai version, though. We don’t think ANYONE’s body could go through the tattooing required to cover all the filler episodes.

Tattoos are a visual representation of a person’s emotional response to something. Something trivial to one person might mean the world to another. In Owan’s case, Dragon Ball Z is everything to him. Kudos for not being afraid to express it.

You can check out more pictures of Owan’s multiple tatoos on his Facebook Page here.

So what do you think? What pop culture icons would you deem worthy to cover your entire body with? Let me know on Twitter @donnielederer or sound off in the comments below.
