Christmas is over for 2020—almost done with you, you freakin’ year from Mustafar!—but light shows celebrating the holiday are still on full display. With the best shows being, of course, the ones that blend Christmas with Star Wars. Like the dazzling one below from Andy Harbeck, which not only features Baby Yoda, but also the ’70s disco version of the Star Wars main theme song.

Harbeck, who runs Harbeck Lights, posted the video to YouTube just in time for X(-wing)-mas. Like other lighting specialists who’ve put on shows recently, it seems Harbeck couldn’t help but be inspired by Star Wars. With Baby Yoda, unsurprisingly, being the subject of much luminous, flashing praise.

The light show, which Harbeck set up on and around a home in Pasadena, California, begins with the two most iconic Star Wars sound effects ever: Vader breathing, and lightsabers switching into the “stab it like it’s hot” position. Then, a pixel-animation board atop the house comes to life with a duel between Luke and Vader, which tees up the rest of the show.

Highlights from the show include Baby Yoda hustling to the music, and a magical dance between pixel Rey and Kylo. Yoda also makes an appearance around a minute and forty seconds into the video. The lights dim, and the legendary Jedi Master delivers his “For my ally is the Force” speech from Episode V.

As for that Star Wars disco mix, it’s a track from the 1977 album, Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk by record producer, Meco. The track, “Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band” was so popular, it hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Immediately below, for posterity, is the full, original song. If it ruins the Star Wars theme song forever for you, we apologize. Disco, like a Force-wielder with a dark heart, can ruin a great many things.

Dean watches footage of the girls and Leah looks into the camera, when Gretchen walks in. He is concerned about their wellbeing and how much longer until they can hang out together. Gretchen isn’t impressed by his concerns and assigns him a box of items to go through. He begins with Nora’s journal. The girls haven’t eaten in a couple of days. Dot is feeling guilty for having them eat all the food, Shelby is back to being helpful, Leah is paranoid about the island again, and Martha is hopeful that all is going to work out. 

As a child, Martha had an accident while jumping on a trampoline. Toni talks Martha about checking for items in the jungle and then dances around the idea of asking Shelby. After her accident, Martha is in physical therapy. Doctor Ted encourages her by thinking of being able to dance again. She states her favorite dance is the jingle. When she’s older, after dance practice, Martha’s mom comes to talk to her about Doctor Ted, who has been accused of abusing other girls. Martha doesn’t believe the other girls, even though her parents are concerned is if it happened to her. 

While Leah is laying on the beach, pulling her eyebrows, Fatin checks up on her. Leah insists that her gut is telling her something is wrong and the reason she lets her mind get away is because she feels that something is going on. Fatin’s words make Leah stomp away. 

Rachel is refusing to get into the water, and Nora notices that she flinches when water is flicked at her. Martha gets upset when Shelby suggests that the animal that is wandering around should become food for them and leaves the other two girls. Dot suggests to Leah that she should sit down, pointing out that hunger and food isn’t the only thing that could kill them. Their mindset can, too. 

Toni is sleeping over at Martha’s. She brings up the case and how Martha is possibly in denial. Martha attacks Toni for suggesting that she do anything. Toni is outside, drying sheets, when Mrs. Blackburn (Kimberly Guerrero) comes out to assist. The sheets are Martha’s and it would seem that she was wetting the bed, something that started after Martha was getting better. Mrs. Blackburn concludes that Dr. Ted (Lewis Fitz-Gerald) was the reason behind it, Martha sees the positive side of everything because she created a fantasy world to not deal with reality. That is terrible. 

Martha finds the goat, coaxing it to move. Rachel and Nora arrive at a hill, where Nora states that Rachel is able to deal with her water problem. Leah runs out to the ocean stating that it’s the way to their safety. Toni and Shelby are sort of bonding. Nora doesn’t want Rachel to lose herself, so she encourages Rachel to dive. At this point, the twins hear Dot and Fatin yelling for Leah, then notice how far Leah is. Rachel dives in and reaches Leah. They both struggle against the waves. 

While Martha is getting her dress fixed up, the TV reports that Dr. Ted was caught trying to flee the country and his trail had a few witnesses. Later, Toni hears Martha crying in bed. While she is comforting her, Martha says, “He is a monster.”

Toni and Shelby find Martha coaxing the goat to leave, which it does. Toni questions why she did that. In court, Martha has a difficult time answering the question. Toni points out that Martha needs to get a grip on reality because they are about to die and can’t keep foraging. Leah wants to go back to the ocean, Dot wants to give her medication, Fatin calms Leah down, while Nora takes care of an out of breath Rachel. Fatin gives Leah medication to calm down, which she takes. Thankfully. 

Toni and Shelby find lychee while searching for the goat. A moment passes between them that results in Shelby kissing Toni again. Toni questions if she is sure then the two proceed to get physical under the lychee tree. Martha finds the goat, places her bag down and takes a moment. 

At the dance competition, Martha is competing as an adult, but looks nervous. Mrs. Blackburn is upset that Martha told the courts lies and refuses to see the things in front of her.  We hear Dr. Ted’s voice stating that every time she dances, she will think of him and their time together. Ugh. Martha disappears from the dressing room. Martha breaks her walking stick, walks toward the goat, picks up a rock, then repeatedly smashes the goat’s head with it. Blood splatters everywhere. Goodness. 

Dean packs up some items, gets a little teary eyed, then takes it to Gretchen, informing her that there is nothing in the box that can be used to leverage against Martha’s parents suing. Gretchen brings up Martha’s criminal case, stating it is a reason for choosing her, but it was just her perjuring herself. Gretchen apologizes to Dean for being harsh. She just hopes he is happy. Dean states he is, but his soft smile goes away when she walks away. 

At night, Leah wakes up then takes a walk and finds Nora talking to a tree, talking about how Leah is dangerous. It looks like there is a camera. Tom and the employees see her coming before Nora does. Leah accuses Norah of knowing what is happening to them. Nora hushes Leah, encouraging her to think that she is just dreaming, then walks away.

One: I wasn’t expecting to find out that Martha was sexually abused as a child. I’m pretty sure she is dead at this point of the show since we haven’t seen her get interviewed for what happened at the island. She is quite sweet.

Two: Out of all the girls in the pack, I didn’t think Nora was in on the program! How did she get pulled in? Girl why!

It’s Thasmin time! Thirteen and Yaz will take on season 13 together after Graham and Ryan’s emotional yet rather unceremonious exit. A new companion named Dan will step into the TARDIS for reasons that aren’t exactly clear because, well, we really don’t need a guy there, right? But even with a replacement, Yaz and Thirteen’s undoubtedly special relationship will continue to grow and evolve. No one knows when we will get new episodes, but it leaves a lot of time for speculation. Thankfully, “Revolution of the Daleks” gives us a few hints as to what’s going on in Yaz and The Doctor’s minds and how they might proceed in the future.

In the beginning of the episode, Yaz is the only companion who refuses to accept that The Doctor may not come back. She’s spending her days and nights inside the spare TARDIS trying to figure out how to find Thirteen. Yaz’s allegiance to The Doctor has always been much stronger than her companion counterparts’, but it really comes through when The Doctor finally reunites with the fam and Jack Harkness.

Yaz is so overwhelmed and upset that she shoves The Doctor hard (a move that shocks everyone in the room). The Doctor can only apologize for her absence but it leaves Yaz in an emotional lurch.

The Time Traveling Conundrum

Jack Harkness later confronts Yaz about her feelings for The Doctor. He’s able to relate to her emotions after his own experiences with the Ninth Doctor. Viewers missed some of it onscreen but Jack travels with Nine and Rose for some unspecified amount of time before they separate for a while during “The Parting of Ways.” Yaz recognizes their common history with The Doctor and opens up about her thoughts during Thirteen’s absence.

“It felt cruel. To be shown something I couldn’t have anymore. Felt like…I’d rather not have known. I’d rather not have met her ‘cause having met her and then, being without her, that’s worse. How do you deal with that?”

Jack reassures her that meeting The Doctor and traveling in the TARDIS is a rare opportunity that makes them special. He tells Yaz to enjoy the time they have because no one can control when it will end. Jack also warns Yaz that the joy will come with more pain. If we know anything about Doctor Who, their time together will end. It could be good or it may be horrible but it’s the risk companions take to see the universe.

This conversation fuels Yaz’s enthusiastic decision to continue traveling with The Doctor, who is ecstatic to have her right-hand woman onboard. Yaz is certainly not the first person to develop a strong emotional attachment to the Gallifreyan hero. Companions like Rose Tyler and Donna Noble wanted to stay in the TARDIS forever until bad things shifted those plans.

Perhaps Yaz will cautiously continue on and keep Jack’s words in mind. However, it doesn’t seem like she’s really thought about the risk of consistently leaving her family behind. What happens to those relationships? Will she ever feel ready to come back and stay for good? Or will something have to rip her from The Doctor? Only time will tell. We can only hope Yaz will let go when it’s the right time and find Jack for another chat (and maybe a fun job).

In the meantime, actress Mandip Gill hinted to Digital Spy that Yaz’s previous mental health storyline may come up in the future. This wouldn’t be surprising considering how much death and destruction often comes with TARDIS travels. Gill said the next season is prime time for fans to really dig into her character’s persona. Honestly, we are far overdue a chance to get to know more about Yaz and hopefully the addition of Dan doesn’t take away from this needed development.

Thank You for Being a Friend

One thing is for sure: The Doctor needs Yaz on her side. Ryan and Thirteen also have a heartfelt chat about The Doctor’s current identity crisis. He reminds her that even though she found out parts of her past are a mystery (and a lie), she’s still The Doctor. Ryan encourages Thirteen to go forth and continue to uncover more about her life.

She thanks him for being a friend, which is exactly what she needs right now. Thirteen is in a state of flux between new life revelations and guilt over losing time with her fam. Yaz’s friendship and support along with her brilliance will be beneficial during these next steps. The Doctor also needs someone who can take charge, think quickly on their feet, and will challenge her when she’s wrong. All of those traits are right there with Yaz.

This episode shows Yaz stepping into her Doctorish mind with bold, clear decisions and carrying out tasks with relative ease. The Doctor and Yaz already have a healthy respect for each other that will only blossom as they spend more time together. The heart truly grows fonder after an absence.

The Doctor will take Ryan’s advice to confront the “new and the old.” Thasmin will have to discover the Timeless Child’s realm for more answers which will probably set up more questions. There’s also the possibility that Tecteun, who experimented on a child version of The Doctor to give the Time Lords their regenerative abilities, could possibly still be alive to give The Doctor valuable information about her unknown incarnations. This investigation could possibly be The Doctor’s biggest mission yet, so a solid companion who knows her well is an asset.

Sure, Yaz and The Doctor are heading to the Meringue Galaxy restaurant for fun but there’s work to be done. It’s time to head for the stars for adventure, action, and answers.
