Hey, folks! Check out a new episode of The Grindhouse as engineered by the Afronerd Radio “steam engine” and broadcast courtesy of the BTalk 100 internet radio platform. Our lovely program airs every Sunday at 6 p.m. eastern standard time. Join the “hardest working men in blerd business,” your AFROnerdist hosts, as they unravel this week’s topical mysteries: after The Harder They Fall trailer hit the cyberwebs this past week, one must ask; Does this spell the return of the Black Western?
The “cup” of comic book to film IPs continues to runneth over with yet another longstanding (but obscure) DC character getting its movie “closeup.” Next up, HBO Max has purportedly greenlighted a Madame Xanadu series slated to be directed by rising filmmaker, Angela Robinson (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women); entertainer/entrepreneur, Nick Cannon continues to raise eyebrows as he continues to father four children by almost as many women within a six-month period; regrettably, another hip hop artist passes at 50-Timothy Jerome Parker, better known as Gift of Gab from the legendary Blackalicious duo, died from kidney failure; co-author of the Logan’s Run novel, William F. Nolan, has some thoughts about casting choices-if a reboot of the film were ever to get off the ground; more fully packed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings trailer premiered a few days ago…..and there appear to be quite a few Easter eggs to discuss:
And just when you thought the risque Catwoman/Batman scene proposal for the upcoming third season of HBO Max’s Harley Quinn subsided, Zack Snyder’s “artistic” commission of the scene in question was removed from Twitter by the DC suits; Lastly, if time permits, the crew highlights an upcoming Boom Studios July release of the six-issue series, Dark Blood, by screenwriter, LaToya Morgan (AMC’s The Walking Dead, Into The Badlands).
