Rapper Sheck Wes dodged charges stemming from an alleged altercation, where his ex-girlfriend, Justine Skye accused him of domestic violence.

According to TMZ who obtained the legal documents, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office declined to pursue an investigation into the matter, claiming the case lacked substantial evidence. Skye claims Wes once threw a phone across a hotel room at the Montrose Hotel in Hollywood last summer, slapped her across the face with a stack of cash, and verbally attacked her during the duration of their relationship.

Skye’s rep submitted a response to TMZ which summarizing the disappointment in the D.A.’s decision to not prosecute.

“A judge in the Superior Court of California granted a restraining order against Sheck Wes that is still in effect and the correlating case is still pending,” the statement read.

“However, it is unfortunate that the Los Angeles District Attorney decided to not pursue any further action at this time but that is often the case with many victims of domestic violence which is why incidents like this go unreported much of the time.”

In February 2019 Skye claimed she endured physical and emotional abuse at the hands of the Harlem rapper, and marked the first time she openly attributed Wes as her abuser.

Skye, who has moved on to date D.C. rapper Goldlink, claimed Wes attempted to physically assault and stalk her and a group of friends during Grammy weekend 2019 in Los Angeles. The thread resulted in a back and forth between Skye and Wes, who ultimately denied the accusations.

Skye then tweeted a series of items, including a video of Wes jumping a gate and a text thread where she told another friend that she feared for her life.

A few days after the revealing, Skye also shared that she felt belittled by a police officer as she attempted to file a restraining order against the rapper.

However, a restraining order was later granted due to Skye’s request.
