NeNe Leakes is unapologetic when it comes to criticism.

Instead of being insulted by what people say, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star embraces it, which she recently did in a sweater.

On the tenth season of the Bravo show, castmate Sheree Whitfield shared that she’s dating an inmate named Tyrone Gilliams who she met before he went to prison. Leakes, who knew the Gilliams as well, revealed that he was a con artist before being locked up and was leary of Whitfield’s decision to date him.

“This is a guy I dated, back, maybe six years ago, Whitfield told Wendy Williams about her romance. “We had a really good connection back then, we lost contact —meaning he went to jail. I did not know. He contacted me a couple years ago and we’ve been talking.”

In response to Leakes’ shade on the show, Whitfield pointed out that Leakes has a mugshot too. According to the IB Times, Leakes was arrested in 1992 and charged with one misdemeanor and three felony counts of “theft of services” for ripping off her phone company when she was 25-years-old. She was arrested three more times due to probation violations.

“Growing up without my mother or father I experienced many growing pains but without them, I could not be who I am or have accomplished the things that I have today,” Leakes said in an Instagram post, rocking a sweater with her twentysomething face. The words Growing Pains appears underneath. 

“Your past does NOT determine your future. From Trial to Triumph. I hope that I can inspire anybody to embrace and not be ashamed of what your past has made you become today! Thank you all so much for the love I received.”
