Mathew Knowles, the father of arguably the biggest star in the world, finally commented on the elevator scuffle seen ‘round the world between his baby girl, Solange, and his son-in-law, JAY-Z.

Knowles, who used to manage his daughters’ careers, stopped by The Wendy Williams Show to dish about his famous daughter, his time managing Destiny’s Child, and what it’s like being a grandpa to some of the most famous children in the world.

During the 15-minute conversation, Knowles weighed in on how he felt when he saw Solange lash out at Jay-Z.(skip to the 9:33 mark)

“I laughed so hard because if you know Solange — that’s Solange. You just never know what you’re going to get,” Knowles said calling his youngest daughter “a firecracker” and joking that he doesn’t know where she gets it from.

Many were surprised by Bey’s calm reaction to the chaotic scene, but Knowles said her reaction made complete sense.

“Beyonce would be in the corner, quiet, just like, ‘When y’all finished let me know.’ So I just laughed,” he said.

While the incident had the world buzzing, Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Solange have mostly stayed silent about the altercation.

Last year, during his interview with the Rap Radar podcast, Jay-Z said the trio were good. 

“We’ve had one disagreement, ever,” he said. “That’s my sister. Not my sister-in-law, no, my sister. Period.”
