There’s a theory in Hollywood that two celebrities are better than one. Essentially, when two people who have fame and notoriety, their collective star shines even brighter when they’re together. It can make us regular folk question the validity of these relationships because there have been more than a few couples who have linked up for clout alone.

The thing with these celebrity relationships, is that the relationship can easily eclipse the accomplishments of one of the members in the relationship. And more often than not, it’s the woman.

The ladies of “The Real,” discussed this concept with rapper Saweetie, who also just so happens to be dating Migos rapper Quavo. And even though the two linked up right as Saweetie’s career was taking off, she’s still managed to make a name for herself and maintain her own identity.

See what she had to say below.

“I do admit in the beginning it was difficult because as a woman, especially a woman in Hip Hop, they’re always trying to credit a man for a woman’s success, which is why I kind of tip-toed around relationship. And that’s why I gave y’all the answer I gave back in the day. But now I’m just continuing to persevere with success and consistency, the relationship it just is what it is now. We love each other. We support each other. We give each other advice. It’s nice. It’s cute and it’s relationship-y.”

Saweetie’s work s paying off. She was named Forbes’ 30 under 30 in music, an honor Saweetie said she is particularly proud to note on her resume.

“I know I’m a fashion girl, music girl, beauty girl. But before all of that, I’m a business girl. So I feel like it’s the best award I could ever get. When I got the news, I screamed, I dropped my phone, like I won an award. I’m really honored. I’ve been looking at that list since I was 18.”

The Pull – 01/06/2021: Comics to Read Before Virtual Learning Begins Again

https://blacknerdproblems.com/the-pull-01-06-2021-comics-to-read-before-virtual-learning-begins-again/

Well, we have made it to 2021, and season 2 of 2020 is off to a drama-filled start. So, here are some comics to read while you sit at home with your kids for a while longer.

Crossover #3

What keeps drawing me back is Shaw’s absolutely incredible artwork. As noted before, visually this story is stunning. The line work, the character designs, the blended styles that Shaw is able to achieve along the colorist Cunniffee. This book is a masterful demonstrate of color, contrast, and scene. Every panel is a dynamic and contains multitudes of small details that carefully craft such wonderful scaffolding for Cates’s writing.

Dark Nights: Death Metal #7

In this finale issue, Wonder Woman goes up against The Darkest Knight (Final form for The Batman Who Laughs), while the rest of the DC multiverse fights nightmare versions of themselves in the trenches. The battle between Double Dub™ and the Darkest Knight is one led with strength, will, and most importantly, truth.

Eternals #1

Veteran Eternals fans will tell you that their most powerful capability is to combine forces, somewhat akin to the Power Rangers’ Zords becoming the Megazord or the paladin’s lions becoming Voltron. While Gillen doesn’t touch on the Uni-Mind, he does unveil the law, if you will, of the Eternals. “We are of one mind” is all it takes for an eternal decision to be declared as final, and the first final decision is to free Sprite, the most troublesome Eternal.

Future State: The Flash #1

This issue follows a dude who runs pretty fast. You might know him as The Flash. But he’s a far cry from a scarlet speedster so far in this story, because my guy has lost all of his Speed Force abilities. The issue opens with The Flash, Jay Garrick, Max Mercury, and Avery Ho as they try to steal The Thinker’s Thinking Cap.

Inkblot #5

This latest issue takes us to a primordial jungle on the African continent on Mother Earth, and the cat manages to have a run in with some of the locals. And given that the location was clearly specified, the characters design quite align with the expectation which does cause a bit of a disconnect (they’re a touch fairer skinned than I’d expect). It’s not too much of an immersion break, but it is something to note.

The Last Witch #1

It is only within the last act of the book where Saoirse reaches the “Tower in the Woods” mentioned in the front matter where I begin to the seeds of something more magical, where new elements are injected into the framework and that there is potential for this to become a more enthralling story.

Thor #11

The things that occur outside of this dinner are secondary to the dread and distress you feel for Jane as Don discovers more and more about what has transpired while he lie dormant. Thor is visited by an old pal of Squirrel Girl, but the Thunder God’s escape still seems unlikely, the Bill and Sif ship continues to be sailed, and a key dead body is discovered.

Dark Nights: Death Metal Finale Review: Everything Matters

https://blacknerdproblems.com/dark-nights-death-metal-finale-everything-matters/

Writer: Scott Snyder / Artists: Greg Capullo and Johnathan Glapton / DC Comics

While Death Metal has been kind of hard to follow due to the abundance of tie-ins (that are important for the story), it’s been a pretty fun read for the past six months. Snyder and company have cultivated a story that’s equal parts compelling and cool. I expected this event to be big, but what I didn’t expect were the ramifications that it would have on the DC Multiverse for years to come.

While Wonder Woman can beat Laughs physically, he presents her with an ultimatum: join him and live in an eternal blissful paradise or defeat him and let the entire multiverse be erased.

Giant Gold Amazonians are here to save us

It basically boils down to either taking the easy way out or facing the music against certain death. The right answer is clear, but that’s a hard choice to make.

But leave a decision like that to rests perfectly on Wonder Woman’s shoulders. She can take the weight of the truth and do what’s right against insurmountable odds. It’s literally her superpower.

I won’t go into all the details about how the fight ends. You’ll have to read the book yourself to figure that out. But what I will say is that the ending of this event directly sets up the future of the DC Multiverse in some exciting ways.

In the aftermath of the battle, our heroes now have their collective memories of each version of themselves. They know everything they’ve ever done, every time they’ve ever died, and they’re all the better for it. They’re smarter, wiser, and lighter. That’s pretty dope when you think about it. It validates every story ever written for DC. Nerds in comic shops have been arguing about what’s canon since the beginning of time. Well, not anymore. It’s all canon now.

Let’s give a tuxedo wearing Shia Labeouf round of applause to Greg Capullo for his stellar art on this series. He seemed to outdo himself in every subsequent issue after every subsequent issue. The man deserves all the praise.

Death Metal leads right into DC’s Future State, which explores new alternate futures as a result of the events of Death Metal. I don’t really know how this is gonna play out in the years to come, but I will say that for the first time maybe ever, I’m leaving a big crossover event feeling a sense of finality, like maybe things will stick this time around. And if that’s the case, I think the DC Universe will be better for it.
