In addition to her particular brand of comedy, Tiffany Haddish has built a reputation around being the person who shares it all. Whether she’s writing about the details of her abusive marriage, sharing the horrors of growing up in foster care, or spilling celebrity secrets (Who bit Beyoncé? and sleeping with Chingy), Tiffany has, for as long as she’s been in the mainstream, had a lot to say.
But apparently that is coming to an end. Over the weekend, Haddish tweeted that after watching a YouTube video titled, “The 10 Things You Should Always Keep To Yourself,” she was going to refrain from being such an open-book.

A few of these could have applied to the things Tiffany has shared over the years, including personal life. This is what the video had to say about that particular topic.
“There are certain things that are better kept to yourself, such as what you do under the sheets, your religious life and your bad habits. Telling others about your personal things will open you up to judgement and criticism. Keeping certain elements of your life a mystery will make you come across much classier and worthy of a lot more respect.”
They concluded the video by saying that no matter how large your circle of friends is, in the end we’re all alone.
Personally, I found it a bit odd and even pessimistic in its view on human nature. While Tiffany certainly has the right to change and grow as an entertainer as she sees fit, those of us who appreciate her do because of the things she’s shared about herself…and occasionally other people. To me, she’s something like the people’s celebrity: famous but still authentic and accessible.
Haddish concluded the tweet thread with these final thoughts.

What do you get when a bunch of professional divers/amateur geeks get together with a stash of props and a giant body of water? A great meme. Sure, this Avengers-inspired video isn’t the first time that something like this has been made but it is the best. I have yelled over the Iron Man one for the last hour.

The technical skill on display here is impressive because it’s the kind of thing where if one person messes up, you have to go back to the start and do it all again. The Marvel superhero poses are all on point and the resourcefulness of using ping-pong paddles as both Captain America’s shield and Thor’s hammer is as impressive as it is silly.

2019 has been a banner year for gorgeous English-language manga translations and Witch Hat Atelier sits atop that list. Written and drawn by Kamome Shirahama—with English localization by translator Stephen Kohler, letterer Lys Blakeslee, and editor Ajani Oloye—the Kodansha Comics series centers on a world where magic is commonplace but can only be used by the elite class of witches who keep the secrets of their craft incredibly close to their chests. Coco is a young girl who wants nothing more than to be a witch but has been told for her whole life that witches are born, not made. That all falls apart after a witch appears at the tailor shop Coco’s mother runs and Coco sees how magic is actually made, learning that really anyone can do it as long as they can draw.

Yep, in the world of Witch Hat Atelier magic is crafted through a series of drawings, meaning that those who hold the power are nothing more than talented artists. Through a series of unfortunate and potentially tragic events, Coco begins her journey to life as a true witch, studying under the enigmatic and possibly dangerous Qifrey. It’s a classical fairytale setup that belies its apparent simplicity with a sweet message about the power of practicing, the democratization of art, and the true meaning of magic.

Shirahama’s art is nothing short of gorgeous; her intricate line work is both delicate and dense as she crafts a world that itself feels like magic. Coco is the perfect central character, as she’s new to the world of witches, just like the reader. This sense of naivety, innocence, and wonder comes through on every page as we discover the secrets of Qifrey’s Atelier and the wider community of magic alongside our tenacious protagonist. Witch Hat Atelier ignores the historical idea of witches as something to be feared and instead portrays them as heroes, a group of powerful people working together to better the place that they live with their unique and secretive skills.
Visually the book seems to create a perfect alchemy out of classic illustration, manga, and superhero comic book art. Shirahama has a talent for making light leap off the page, crafting an immersive landscape that you want to dive right into. In a world that can often be filled with darkness, Witch Hat Atelier presents a brilliant and bright fable that combines the positive powerfulness of Studio Ghibli’s magic-centric stories, the action of your favorite Big Two comics, and a fresh take on the fairytale archetype. The result is a beautiful manga that stands out as a singular piece of art and storytelling.

Over the weekend, Shaunie O’Neal took to Instagram Live to address all of the criticism she’s received for Season 8 of Basketball Wives.
In case you missed it, the 44-year-old has been called bias and hypocritical, and even been accused of being a colorist because of her non-stop disapproval of star Ogom “OG” Chijindu, who is darker, and whom she’s referred to more than once as “aggressive.”
During her IG Live, she spoke to all of the “super invested people,” noting that she does admonish friend Evelyn Lozada for bad behavior, not just OG, but we just don’t get to see it.
“You guys always say, ‘You don’t say anything to Evelyn.’ The thing about Evelyn and I, we have been friends for…Jesus, about 15 years,” she said. “I’m able to, I literally talk to her in some capacity every single day, whether it’s text or phone call. So all of our conversations are not on camera and it’s naturally not on camera because technically on camera, it’s real, but we talk so much it’s not, you not even getting our super real conversations. When I have something to say to her, most times it’s not on camera because we talk all the damn time. So, you know, you guys say I don’t hold her accountable, yes the hell I do. I do. We talk about everything. When she did her thing in Costa Rica, literally, and she could tell you this, I told her, ‘You’re buggin’, that was too much.’ I told her she was going to want to go on vacation when that airs because she’s going to be mad at herself. Now, you know, it is what it is and it’s just entertainment guys. Don’t get so invested. You’re getting all of about three percent of our real lives. Trust me.”
“I think the cast that’s been together for a long time definitely holds each other accountable because we talk to each other,” she added. “But we are shooting a TV show and everybody’s grown. My kids are at home, so everybody’s held accountable for their own actions. Period.”
Shaunie went on to refute the idea that she, Evelyn, Malaysia Pargo, Feby Torres and Kristen Scott are bullies, saying people are too old to be getting bullied by anyone. While speaking with ex-husband Shaq on her Live, they both also shut down the idea that she’s colorist because she was married to him. When asked by Shaq who started the rumor, she said she’d “rather not entertain the names” of the women on the show who pushed that narrative. She also said that her decision to call OG “aggressive” is based on things “y’all probably would never understand.”
However, despite OG’s treatment at the reunion and the women feeling that she’s too aggressive, Shaunie said she has not been cut from the show.
“‘Did you fire OG?’ No!” she responded to a fan question. “OG is not fired for the record. Don’t know where that came from.”
This hasn’t been the best season for all the ladies, as viewers have been vocal about the behavior of many of the veterans of the series. However, Shaunie said people need to know that some things are just editing, and to also remember that the show is for entertainment. It’s not something to get worked up over.
“I think a lot of people can come across looking messier than they are, but that’s what reality TV is unfortunately. For every show you need the mess for this,” she said, referencing the huge response from viewers.
“For all reality TV, and all the viewers of reality TV, just be entertained,” she added. “Don’t invest your feelings, your heart, your soul into reality TV. It is entertainment. And that’s all that it should be. K?”
Sounds like early damage control to the response people are bound to have when part one of the reunion airs this week…
