Although there were rumors that a third chapter in the Ant-Man franchise was going straight to Disney+, thankfully that doesn’t seem to be the case. It has now been announced via The Hollywood Reporter that director Peyton Reed is coming back to finish his Ant-Man trilogy. While the release date is currently unconfirmed, it appears third film in the saga of Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne will be released in 2022—putting it smack dab in the middle of the MCU’s Phase 5. Filming will likely take place towards the end of 2020 or early 2021.

Paul Rudd is expected to return as Scott Lang, and one can assume that his partner the Wasp (Evangeline Lily) will strap on her wings as well. We were also reintroduced to Scott’s now-teenage daughter Cassie in Avengers: Endgame. As Marvel Comics fans know, Cassie becomes a size changing hero herself known as Stature. She’s one of the many teen heroes who are a part of the Young Avengers ensemble.

Could the third movie be Ant-Man and the Wasp and Stature? Ooooh, that’s a clunky title, so probably not. However, I bet Stature figures into all of this somehow. It’s likely that Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) would returns as well. But maybe they are happy living the retired life out on the beach.

With Reed coming back behind the camera, he will be the first director to complete a Marvel Studios trilogy, outside of Jon Watts with Spider-Man (which is technically a Sony movie). Then there’s James Gunn, who is coming back to put a cap in his Guardians of the Galaxy saga. Despite being a late choice to take on the franchise after the departure of Edgar Wright, the Ant-Man movies have been branded by Peyton Reed’s signature of humor and action. It’s only fitting that he return for another round in the Quantum Realm.

However, this announcement might put a damper on the rumors that Peyton Reed is in the running to direct the MCU Fantastic Four reboot. Over fifteen years ago, Reed had an elaborate pitch for Marvel’s “First Family,” and many assumed he’d be the choice to make another attempt at it. But now that he’s formally returning to helm Ant-Man 3, it’s hard to see Kevin Feige waiting until Reed is finished with Ant-Man to start pre-production on the Fantastic Four film. It’s thought to be too high of a priority for the MCU to wait that long.

Ant-Man 3 is the third confirmed movie coming in 2022 from Marvel Studios. The other two are the Black Panther sequel, and possibly Blade, the latter of which was announced at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer. One would imagine that the fourth would be James Gunn’s third Guardians movie. It would seem most of the newer characters coming to the MCU are going to be starring on streaming series on Disney+, with the bulk of the movies coming out being sequels. The next few years in theaters will feature mostly familiar faces.

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER’s Dark Rey And Knights of Ren Are Getting Funkos

https://nerdist.com/article/star-wars-the-rise-of-skywalkers-dark-rey-funko-pop/

The ninth and final film in the Star Wars episodic saga, The Rise of Skywalker, is just a few short months away, which means our merchandise cups will soon runneth over. Not that we’re complaining. What better way to celebrate 40 years of the Skywalker family legacy than with a bunch of toys that will fill the void in our heart once it’s time to say goodbye to our beloved characters forever. Of course, “no one is ever really gone” as Luke Skywalker would have us remember, and thanks to a slew of upcoming Funko products targeted to the release of The Rise of Skywalker, it’s a sentiment impossible to forget.

The most exciting product in Funko’s latest Star Wars announcement has to be the new Pop! figure of “Dark Rey,” a version of our sequel trilogy heroine spotted in recent officially released footage from the film. Cloaked in a black hood and clutching a double-bladed red lightsaber, this imagery has had us talking for the last several months and will sure to be a topic of debate until the film’s release in December. Is it a vision, or is Rey really turning to the Dark Side? This Pop! doesn’t really clear up any of our theories, but it does give us a closer look at the details on her black hood and dress—which resembles Kylo Ren’s own hood and cloak right down to the fabric. Does he get her to turn? Or maybe she comes to him in a vision or dream. Who knew that a cute little toy could reignite our imaginations like this?

Dark Rey isn’t the only intriguing Dark Side character getting a Pop! Funko will also release the Knights of Ren as hematite chrome figurines, and gave us the first really detailed look at the costumes and weapons Kylo Ren’s acolytes will come equipped with in The Rise of Skywalker. One has a blaster, one has a scythe, one even has a club.

Along with the Knights, you can get a new regular-sized figure of Kylo with his red-veined new helmet as well as a 10-inch glow-in-the-dark version, and a red-eyed C-3PO–another intriguing version of a familiar character spotted in recent footage. The fact that he’s being announced with all of these other Dark Side figures has us asking questions about those red eyes all over again. Is Threepio going dark, just like Rey?

Non-chrome versions of the Knights of Ren will also be available for purchase exclusively at Hot Topic, Walmart, FYE, and GameStop; a double pack featuring the droids BB-8 and D-O will be available at Books-A-Million; and a two-pack of Kylo Ren and (Light Side) Rey will be available at Barnes and Noble. Funko will also release Mystery Minis of The Rise of Skywalker characters, with different exclusive characters found at Target, Walmart, and GameStop.

That’s a lot of new toys to get excited about! Funko has yet to release specific dates of availability for any of these products, listing them as “coming soon” on their official blog, but we’ll certainly have our eyes peeled. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker arrives in theaters on December 20.

The King of Pop Is Tops on Forbes’ Highest-Earning Dead Celebrities List

https://www.blackenterprise.com/michael-jackson-highest-earning-dead-celebrities/

The King of Pop is STILL the king! According to Forbes, Michael Jackson once again tops the list of top-earning dead celebrities of 2019.

This is the seventh consecutive year that Jackson, with $60 million, landed on top of Forbes’ list. To determine the highest earner, Forbes calculated monies earned for the months between the fiscal year of October 2018 and October 2019. The latest entry, Ermias Joseph Asghedom, a.k.a. Nipsey Hussle, who died in March of this year, made the list at #10 with $11 million earned. Rapper Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, a.k.a. XXXTentacion, is the most-streamed dead celebrity in the U.S. with 5.6 billion spins.

Earnings for those who made the list are essentially flat compared to last year’s sum. Even as physical sales continue their decline, the nine musicians who made the list, including Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Nipsey Hussle, generated 15.2 billion streaming spins over the past year in the U.S., up 38.5% from the prior 12 months.

“In the physical world, it would die down to the point where that stuff just wasn’t carried anymore,” says David Bakula, Nielsen’s Senior VP of Insight and Analytics. “That barrier’s been removed, and it’s just simply as long as you’re still thinking about that artist, you’re still going to go in and play it with really no friction at all.”

Forbes states, “Our annual list of the top-earning dead celebrities measures pretax income from October 1, 2018, through October 1, 2019. We compile our numbers with the help of data from Nielsen Music, IMDBPro, and interviews with industry insiders. Fees for agents, managers, and lawyers are not deducted.”
