And the beat goes on, people! Welcome to Afronerd Radio’s Mid Week in Review (MWIR) broadcast airing every Wednesday at 8pm eastern. Check out the latest musings from your AFROnerdist broadcasters as they unravel this (mid) week’s current issues: regrettably (and swiftly) we will provide our impressions of the first of three scheduled presidential debates between the incumbent, Donald Trump and former VP, Joe Biden (quick take? exhausting); the premiere of season 4 for FX’ Fargo starring Chris Rock took place this past weekend and again we have opinions; the Blumhouse produced trailer for The Craft: Legacy, an update to its 90s horror classic predecessor , The Craft just hit the cyberwebs:

Adult Swim has officially pulled select episodes of The Boondocks (the reboot soon to appear on HBO Max) and Aqua Teen Hunger Force due to cultural sensitivities: addressing some issues we left on kitchen table from this past Sunday’s Grindhouse show;  Dburt finally got around to checking out Netflix’ Enola Holmes; the Bleeding Cool website highlights just how 2021 could introduce a black Batman concept using a defund Batman (police in the real world) analogy….intriguing;  more info is coming out about the forthcoming Hawkeye Disney plus series; Comic Book Movie reports that actor, Takehiro Hira may be portraying a new villain for the upcoming Snake Eyes spinoff film from the G.I. Joe franchise;  after witnessing Japan’s real life Gundam robot move, we have to ask-“which country is better at making fantasy a reality when it comes to their respective takes on pop culture-Japan or the United States?

Did we ever discuss Netflix’ Cuties debacle?  The Mary Sue waxes about the film and the backlash over “policing girlhood.” ; And lastly, if time permits, The Atlantablackstar highlights two stories of racial stereotyping and “swatting”…..it never stops.  Call in LIVE at 508-645-0100.

Oh…and Dburt has some thoughts about the premise or themes of certain Anime/Manga properties (like Hunter X Hunter)-perseverance and honor are everything.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s unveils its first-ever interactive film presentation with Batman: Death in the Family in a fascinating New York Comic Con panel. As the anchor of an anthology of 2019-2020 animated shorts, Batman: Death in the Family is based on the 1988 landmark DC event where fans voted by telephone to determine the story’s ending, and is organically grown out of the 2010 DC Universe Movie, Batman: Under the Red Hood. In this new version, the animated short is an interactive storytelling presentation with numerous “branches,” allowing the viewer multiple options from which to choose and alter the path of the core characters (Batman, Robin, Joker, Red Hood and more). Join producer/director/writer Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood, Young Justice), actors Bruce Greenwood (The Resident, Star Trek, iRobot), Vincent Martella (Phineas and Ferb, Everybody Hates Chris) and Zehra Fazal (Young Justice), and moderator Tiffany Smith (DC Daily) for an in-depth panel discussion about this innovative film. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC, DC Showcase – Batman: Death in the Family arrives from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Blu-rayTM Combo Pack and Digital starting October 13.

Scooby-Doo and Shaggy’s favorite holiday is upon us! With fake monsters and candy galore, Halloween is heaven for these hungry foodies going door-to-door. But this year, their sweet holiday turns sour when the neighborhood pumpkin patch is infected by toxic ooze, creating high-flying jack-o-lanterns, and a king-sized pumpkin leader squashing everything in its path. It’s up to Scooby-Doo and the gang as they team up with their pals, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and Bill Nye the Science Guy, to solve this mystery of gigantic proportions and save Crystal Cove! Enjoy a fun panel discussion amongst  voiceover legend Frank Welker (The Transformers), in his 50th year voicing Fred Jones and 18th year voicing Scooby-Doo; Grey Griffin (DC Super Hero Girls films) in her 20th year as Daphne Blake; Matthew Lillard (Twin Peaks, Bosch, Good Girls) celebrating his 18th year as Shaggy Rogers; Kate Micucci (Unikitty!) in her fifth year as Velma Dinkley; Cassandra Peterson (Elvira, Mistress of the Dark), director/producer/writer Maxwell Atoms (Fish Hooks, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy) and moderator Damian Holbrook (TV Guide Magazine senior writer). http://www.afronerd.com/2020/09/tune-in-every-sun-6pm-for-afronerd.html

Hey AFROnerdists!  We're back at it again! Listen to a new installment of  Afronerd Radio's The Grindhouse, airing every Sunday at 6pm eastern.  Your favored internet broadcasters will be highlighting the following topics: it was just announced that legendary actor, Samuel L. Jackson will be reprising his MCU role of Nick Fury for an new Disney + series; controversial comedian/podcaster, Joe Rogan appears to be having problems since his recent move to Spotify with company staffers threatening to strike over the Rogan's content; veteran comic book creator, Gerry Conway had an interesting screed on Twitter suggesting that every existing superhero comic should be cancelled (ok, where's he going with this?) in another example of race bended casting, actor Aldis Hodge (One Night in Miami, The Invisible Man) has reportedly been tapped to portray Hawkman in DC's forthcoming Black Adam film featuring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson;  per usual, Dburt tripped over a new (to him) animated series, entitled Dicktown that seems to do a deep dive into pop culture allusions and has guest vocal talents such as Jean Grae, Zach Galifianakis and the show's creator, John Hodgman;  the American version of the UK's Utopia made its debut on Amazon this weekend (Dburt asks whatever happened to that American Misfits redux as well?) ; and in even more Amazon product is expected eith the announcement that The Boys will get an untitled "collegiate" spinoff series;  Did we ever discuss Alamo Drafthouse's plan to get folks back into their theaters?

A beautiful Black Panther mural honoring the late actor, Chadwick Boseman (and his character gets one in Planet Brooklyn) was unveiled last week at Disneyland as a part of its Downtown Disney shopping district; And it deepens Dburt's resolve that the character should continue to thrive; Stumptown gets another season and then loses it due to COVIDYoutube star, Arif Zahir is getting the Cleveland Brown vocal gig but its doubtful the audience will know the difference; And lastly, are John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman, Tenet), Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible films) and Keanu Reeves (Matrix and John Wick franchises) really being eyed for potential Marvel projects?.....we'll deliberate.  Call in LIVE at 508-645-0100.

OH...and what is the takeaway that this has been a year with Marvel?

"The clapping shall go on for another hour.  Have the first one who stops clapping brought out and shot."-Donald J. Trump......ok. we're kidding it was Dr. Victor Von Doom (made you think though, huh?)
