If you’re feeling nostalgic about your childhood, today’s a good day. River Gods have released the video for their latest track, “Stressed Out,” off of their upcoming Let Me Live EP, and the power pop tune is the perfect salve for millenial anxiety. The video features a young boy who has been tapped to film a commercial for the hit new sensation “Hatch-A-Friend,” a small Tamagatchi-like toy. Unfortunately, the boy’s new digital friend causes him to get lost in the imaginary world where love only goes one way. Raising a video game pet was always a big task as a kid, but it doesn’t feel far away from the pressures of today’s world.



As for the rest of the music video–oh man! Can you believe how obsessed we were with a small little screen meant to distract us from living an authentic life full of real experiences, all so we could lose ourself in a virtual world of nonsense that revolved around a creature who could never love us back? Glad those days are long gone. Must be why none of us are stressed out like we used to be…

The video’s director, Peter Rosati, said the idea for the video “hit pretty quickly” after he heard River Gods’ frontman Shiraz Dhume’s song the first time. “Something about a little kid singing these selfless lyrics of unrequited love to a Tamagotchi-like toy just felt too perfect,” Rosati said.

We agree, though things weren’t always so stressful in the ’90s. Sure, our obsession with video games and virtual realities should have been a warning for what was to come with our smartphones, but just like this song, the music was pretty great.

A good parody trailer is truly a thing of beauty. But few of them are so well thought out and detailed as this Trailer Time Warp, “John Wick Chapter 6: Contingency”. Youtuber Journey’s End recreates an 80s style Cannon Films trailer in the mold of Death Wish, Lifeforce, and Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.

The trailer imagines a sixth John Wick film, where everyone’s favorite assassin finds himself in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of The Matrix. The trailer is lovingly detailed to look like a low budget masterpiece, from the synth-heavy score to a grizzled voice-over to de-colored, skipping image.

Given how increasingly outlandish the world of John Wick is, it’s hardly a stretch to imagine a future-set film in the franchise where Keanu Reeves is unfrozen to battle the machines. The trailer capitalizes on the films’ combination of Laurence Fishburne and Reeves, as well as both movies’ usage of the phrase “we’re going to need guns, lots of guns.”

The newly rebooted Wick has to contend not only with his painful puppy-filled memories, but will also undergo the upgrades and enhancements that made Neo such a formidable fighter. Is it weird that I want to watch this movie? Because I would totally watch this movie.

The news of a Whitney Houston hologram tour being in the works has been met with mixed feelings from fans, but not from her family. Houston’s cousin Dionne Warwick isn’t too fond of the idea.

“I haven’t a clue as to what that is. It’s surprising to me,” she told  Entertainment Tonight on Thursday. “I don’t know what it is. I think it’s stupid, but whatever it is that’s what it is.”

It was announced earlier this week that Houston’s sister-in-law, Pat Houston, has signed a deal with Primary Wave Music Publishing to work on the hologram tour as well as an album of unreleased music. Houston told The New York Times that a musical featuring her hits. is also being developed. Primary Wave will now acquire 50 percent of Whitney Houston’s estate’s assets.

Pat Houston, who is the executor of Whitney Houston’s estate, feels that this is best time to remind the world of the late singer’s greatness since her legacy was tarnished due to her drug abuse.

“The hologram has taken precedence over everything,” Houston said. “Before she passed, there was so much negativity around the name; it wasn’t about the music anymore. People had forgotten how great she was. They let all the personal things about her life outweigh why they fell in love with her in the first place.”

The hologram will perform hits like “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “The Greatest Love of All.”
