The Terrifics #26

After the traditional cold opening, Yang sets the stage by having Mr. Terrific and Stagg reveal a new revolution in public transit, something that most metropolitan areas desperately need. And Davilia, alongside Cifuentes and Protobunker, sells the device with a beautifully rendered holographic super train. It provides an awesome pivotal set piece as its inaugural trip meets the usual problems of an inaugural technology reveal in a superhero universe.

Batman and the Outsiders #11

The focus of this issue is action, and Soy goddamn delivers. This is some of the most beautiful fight sequences I think I’ve seen in a superhero comic, and there is a sheer variety of combat going on. You got some of the best hand to hand fighters flexing. You got metas letting loose. And after the action, you got rising stakes that make you that much more invested in the story.

Thor #4

Thor #4 Cover

While this was the first issue of Cates run that didn’t feature a jaw dropping, hall of fame worthy opening page or 2, he really came hard in the emotional moments of Thor #4. Seeing Sif stand up to her King was so powerful. Seeing Thor blind himself in preparation of Winter’s arrival and crying at the loss of life before him was humbling.

X-Men #8

X-Men #8 Cover

By the end of this issue, we know exactly where things are heading, and I’m very excited to see more from the Shi’ar empire in Hickman’s world. This issue was cool but didn’t really take us anywhere. With so much happening in the “Dawn of X,” this was one of the few issues that felt a tad bit yawn worthy.
