Writer: Al Ewing / Artist: Jacopo Camagni / Marvel Comics
Who’s the snitch, the mole, the sell out? Who’s feeding Orchis sensitive intel and screwing over their mutant brethren in the process? Why the young man who gets stares at, side eyed and unnecessary sympathy from mutants and humans alike, of course!
While Storm was serving up these Legion of ugly face haters a 3-piece combo with biscuits and gravy, you simultaneously learn about the physical and mental toll that life has on the disabled. All in the first 3 pages! My boy Takeshi is getting vulnerable in the sheets as Al Ewing takes us through the step-by-step motions of a paraplegic man getting out of bed. Imagine having to develop a consistent routine to simply get your day started each morning? Don’t get me started on the dyslexia the young man has been battling with.
But you’re not here for the realness that Al Ewing was spittin, you’re here for that Benedict Arnold effect, for Wiz-Kid’s big reveal as the mufuckin mole tearing down mutant kind in S.W.O.R.D. #10! Yeah that was great and all, but I refuse to write another word before we take a moment to pay homage to one of the illest references in an X-Men comic (or any form of media)!
Shouts out to DMX.. and to Al Ewing for reminding us why he always has an invite to the cookout. Some really interesting concepts are discussed in this issue, along with a major twist. Techno-Telepathy could be groundbreaking, and the cliffhanger on the final page left everyone hungry for more. The powers that the Lethal Legion members had were a problemmm! They were knocking out Shi’ar Empress guards like Madara bustin ayebody ass, but they never faced the perfect Storm.
S.W.O.R.D. #10 got me thinking and kept me excited, so I have no complaints. Jacopo Camagni has been a real gem creating these dope, tech filled panels and spacey landscapes. Hopefully S.W.O.R.D. Ewing and Camagni keep up the momentum.
