After a three-year old Instagram video of Cardi B confessing that she used to drug and rob men in her past resurfaced, she was ridiculed all over social media. The situation even sparked the #SurvivingCardiB hashtag, inspired by the Surviving R.Kelly Lifetime series, with people saying her career should be cancelled as a result of her being held accountable for her actions. While people poked fun and criticized her, fellow rapper Rick Ross came to her defense.

In his Snapchat story, Rozay said since Cardi changed her ways she should be given a second chance.

“Leave Cardi B alone because we don’t need to persecute her for her past,” the Miami native said. “We need to be leaders and lead by example. Regardless of what you did in your past, if you stole a car in the past, that don’t mean you shouldn’t be able to get money in the future. As long as you change your ways, and we all know Cardi B focused on the money now. She is a leader, and that’s how I feel.”

Rick Ross can relate to Cardi, as he lost a seven-figure endorsement deal with Reebok after he seemed to promote date rape on rapper Rocko’s “U.E.O.N.O It” remix a few years ago. He went on to say that he understood why Reebok revoked the deal.

“I have no love lost for Reebok, you understand, because I needed to understand that I was a king, you understand, and they’re right I didn’t need to promote that the parties I attended at the time [that] that was the lifestyle.”

In the video, a frustrated Cardi reflected on the poor choices she made out of desperation when she was a stripper.

“I had to go strip. I had to go, ‘Oh yeah, you want to f–k me? Yeah, yeah, yeah, let’s go back to this hotel,’ and I drugged n—s up, and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do.”

The “Please Me” rapper came forward and apologized for her actions and expressed remorse for her past choices.

“So I’m seeing on social media that a live I did 3 years ago has popped back up,” she wrote in a now deleted Instagram post. “A live where I talked about things I had to do in my past right or wrong that I felt I needed to do to make a living. I never claim to be perfect or come from a perfect world wit a perfect past I always speak my truth I always own my s–t. There are rappers that glorify murder violence drugs and robbing. Crimes they feel they had to do to survive. I never glorified the things I brought up in that live I never even put those things in my music because I’m not proud of it and feel responsibility not to glorify it. I made the choices that I did at the time because I had very limited options. I was blessed to have been able to rise from that but so many women have not. Whether or not they were poor choices at the time I did what I had to do to survive.”
