Today at 4:00pm ET / 1:00pm PT on Instagram live, Black Girl Nerds host Ryanne Bennett interviews Xanthe Pajarillo, director of the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.
Raised in Germany and Virginia by Filipino parents, Xanthe Pajarillo was weaned on the belief that cultural differences were gifts. This led to a love of horror, a genre she sees as a universal antidote to life’s uncertainties. Following an enlistment in the Air Force, she received a BFA at CalArts, and is on the cusp of completing her MFA at USC School of Cinematic Arts. She writes for “Bloody Disgusting” and recently directed the 2021 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.
