Howdy, loyal AFROnerdists!  Welcome to the umpteenth edition of Afronerd Radio’s infamous Grindhouse broadcast-airing this Sunday at 6 p.m. eastern.  Pull up a chair and check out a new installment from the “steam engine” where we will be unpacking the following data:  a veteran NYC educator is filing suit promulgating a variety of allegations, one asserting she was fired for refusing to give the Wakanda salute; rapper/producer, Mark Anthony Morales aka Prince Markie Dee from the legendary classic hip hop trio, The Fat Boys passes at 52; actress, Jennifer Lawrence (Hunger Games, X-Men franchises) was rumored to be cast as Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman for the forthcoming Marvel’s  Fantastic Four reboot but that casting has since been debunked;  our impressions of two fully fleshed out trailers that were released this week-VG translation/reboot, Mortal Kombat, and Robert Kirkman’s Invincible:

a recent Bleeding Cool op-ed highlights the growing “gatekeeping” presence in today’s pop culture fandom.  Dburt has a more nuanced view of how observers have to be careful not to label mild disagreement as tantamount to gatekeeping; even more comic-related news, i.e. a new DCEU Supergirl being cast; thoughts about the Marvel-Netflix embargo being lifted and how (or if) those characters can be rebooted.  Lastly, Dburt has some thoughts about attaining Black generation wealth juxtaposed with how the tragic death of “blerd,” Elijah McClain will forever haunt him.
