Even as some states begin reopening the COVID-19 crisis is still reshaping this year’s big box office releases. Warner Bros. is the latest to studio to announce a change in their slate with both their big superhero sequel Wonder Woman 1984 and mysterious sci-fi spy thriller Tenet being delayed. Though in the case of the latter it’s only a move of two weeks…

Warner Bros.

According to Variety Warner Bros. has pushed Tenet back from its original July 17th date to July 31st. Which still seems a little soon to us, but Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group is clearly excited and had a surprise for fans. “It’s been longer than any of us could’ve imagined since we’ve seen a movie on the big screen, and to acknowledge Chris’ fans as we count down to Tenet’s opening day, we are also excited to offer his masterpiece Inception in theaters for its 10th anniversary on July 17.”

Yep, a rerelease of Inception will now open instead of Tenet which seems like a trial run for the studio of just how many people are willing to go into cinemas during the global pandemic. It’s also likely going to excite Nolan fans who think that Tenet might be sequel to the sci-fi mind bender. The other big news here is that Wonder Woman 1984 is moving back a hearty—and far healthier sounding—two months. It’s going from Aug 14th to Oct 2nd. This is the second delay for the movie from its original June 5th release date. Whether it will be the last move for the Patty Jenkins superhero flick is still to be seen.

Whatever happens next this is an important moment as many fans, critics, and movie business watchers have been using Tenet as a measuring stick for the summer 2020 box office. It’ll be interesting to see how Inception lands and whether WB commits to Tenet’s July release in the face of new spikes in corona virus cases across the country. And the world for that matter!

We try to address issues we left on the table per last Sunday's Grindhouse broadcast; what exactly does the call for defunding the police actually mean?  And what was the deal with Senator Kamala Harris needing to explain it to The View host, Meghan McCain?;  and in nerd cultural news, how did The Flash's Elongated Man actor,  Hartley Sawyer, lose his job on his day off? (Answer: "Racism for 100, Alex!"); and in a case of the (post COVID-19) times are a changin', recent reports assert that Hollywood is looking to use CGI to reenact love scenes for obvious reasons;  very intriguing....Blumhouse Productions is looking to reboot Dracula looking to recapture similar success from their recent Invisible Man film; Bonnie Pointer from the iconic sister group, The Pointer Sisters passes at the age of 69; The MarySue.com site highlights alleged growing discontent with the CW network's diversity problems with much of its fantasy/sci-fi programming;  apparently, Japanese can't get Black anime right when it comes to the BLM discussion; And lastly, after all the mayhem stemming from the George Floyd police killing-is Rev. Al Sharpton's  request (during Floyd's televised funeral) that Colin Kaepernick should be rehired to play football since history has proven his activism to be on the right side of history? Daredevil #20 Review

https://blacknerdproblems.com/daredevil-20-review/

Writer: Chip Zdarsky / Artist: Marco Checchetto / Marvel Comics

Ok, ok I know we been without comics for like 3 months but NOBODY gave Chip Zdarsky the thumbs up to absolutely decimate all of my expectations with Daredevil #20!! Despite fellow writers giving Daredevil #1 the ill co-sign and doing their best to convince me this Daredevil run was one for the record books, I wasn’t on board until now. I’m happy to say my 19 issue catch-up was time well spent.

Daredevil took back control in issue #16. Came for the wealthiest tag team’s pockets in #17. Formed an unexpectedly natural partnership with Detective Cole to get the Libris child back in #18. And realized how far the Stromwyns were willing to go for Hell’s Kitchen in #19.

With no help in sight, Daredevil stares down the gauntlet as Bullet, Stilt Man aka True Value Doc Oc, Crossbones, Bullseye, and Rhino raze his hood and terrorize the civilians he knows and loves. Watching this man use his God-given talents in this issue was truly remarkable and indicative of how great this character can be with the correct writer and artist.

No shade to Fornes or Sharma, but Marco Checchetto is the only person who should have his hands on the artistic vision of this story. He is an agent of chaos on each page and it’s invigorating! Scenes that feature mayhem come to life so vividly that everyone looks like they’re getting in on the action. Panel to panel, you can follow the progression of the story nicely while taking in every shot fired, punch landed, bomb dropped and baton thrown.

Light Spoilers Below

This issue featured some of the best, pure, hand-to-hand action I’ve read in a comic in a while. I love a cool mutant power as much as the next guy, but I can’t get enough of some good ol fisticuffs! I’m talmbout that hand covering a jaw-dropped-mouth action! I’m talmbout that Savage Land level audacity!

I’M TALKIN BOUT MURDA MURDOCK HITTIN RHINO WITH A STONE COLD FUKN DAREDEVIL STUNNER!!!

When I tell you the Sister Elizabeth bomb drop gave me LIFE, I was smiling so hard when she came out looking wilder than Bellatrix Lestrange on a bad day! This issue is full of surprises and you’ll love seeing each come to fruition.

Daredevil #20 was so well paced, written and drawn that I couldn’t wait to go back and read it again. Hell, they even made Stilt Man look menacing for a hot second! I didn’t know how they were going to top last issue’s scene where Hell’s Kitchen civilians pulled up dressed in Daredevil masks to defend their block. That moment damn near brought a tear to my eye, but Chip really showed me after this dopeness! Must read material right here.

10 Daredevil Finishing Moves out of 10!

NeNe Leakes Seemingly Co-Signs Calls To Have Andy Cohen Fired Due To Systemic Racism

Following the firing of multiple “Vanderpump Rules” stars for racism, NeNe Leakes appears to be co-signing fans who are calling for the firing of Andy Cohen as well. In response to the firings, Leakes took to Instagram, stating that while the firings were a great start, Bravo still has quite a bit of work to do.

“Well alrighty then! Now we have a few more questions to ask about in other areas where there’s a major difference. Should we talk privately or publicly?” the reality star commented on Bravo’s Instagram statement.

Andy eventually broke his silence on the matter, which prompted NeNe to press further.

“There’s so much happening in the Bravo universe. I will say this: so much talk about Vanderpump Rules and then of course the reunion ended up airing last night. I will say this about what happened. I absolutely support Bravo’s decision, I think it was the right decision,” Cohen said Wendy on his SiriusXM show, Radio Andy. “And I want to remind people because I’ve been getting so many tweets and messages and whatever about “Vanderpump Rules and about “Southern Charm” and other shows. I am not, I don’t—I feel like I remind people this all the time—I’m not in charge of programming at Bravo anymore. I am not an Executive Producer of Vanderpump Rules. I don’t have anything to do with the show except I love it and that I host the reunions.”

“I don’t produce the show so what I want people to know is I have no say in hiring and firing,” he added.

Cohen went on to say that he has touched base with “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss about how Bravo can move forward. After reading about Cohen’s comments, Leakes tweeted:

“I find this interesting.”

To which, a fan responded.:

“Change starts at the top. Fire the face of Bravo #fireandycohen.”

While NeNe did not comment on calls to fire Andy, she did appear to co-sign by retweeting them. She did, however, share that she took issue with the fact that Kandi was the only housewife Andy consulted.

“I think it’s interesting how 1 cast member can give you insight when we have all experienced things differently, separately and together. All voices should be heard,” she tweeted.

NeNe clearly has some things to get off of her chest. but it seems that no one at Bravo is giving her the time of day.
