Former Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden called in to 100.3 WRNB in Philadelphia and spoke with host Mina SayWhat on Monday to discuss what’s at stake in the presidential election.

With only a week until November 3, candidates are in the last stretch and are ramping up their campaign stops to hit a series of battleground states. Biden is scheduled to travel to Georgia on Tuesday where he will spend time in Atlanta at an early voting event.

“There’s so much at stake in this election. It’s the first time I’ve ever run for office that it’s not about the competition and winning, there’s so much at stake,” he said.

“I think we have an enormous opportunity to bring this country back in a way. the United States is the only country om the world that geos through crisis and comes out stronger, so I’m looking forward to Election Day.”

“We have to stop this hateful kind of talk we use. From the time he came down the escalator in his hotel talking about his candidacy, talking about ‘we’re going to get those Mexican rapists,’ and he talks about banning Muslims, and he pours fuel on every single fire, the way he goes after people is so personal and viscous. He talks about being Abraham Lincoln. My lord Abe is rolling over in his grave by the comparison.”

Biden condemned Trump’s embracing of white supremacists as well as his attacks against his family which have become deeply personal, hitting on Biden’s surviving son Hunter and his deceased son Beau.

“I think what’s happening is the blinders have been taken off the American people, they understand the systemic racism in America. They never really thought about it that way before, they say what happened to George Floyd, they’ve seen what’s going on…and they’re ready to do something about it,” he said.

Biden condemned Trump embracing white supremacists as well as his attacks against his family which have become deeply personal, hitting on Biden’s surviving son Hunter and his deceased son Beau.

Biden also said he believes his plan addresses important topics which lend access to improving ones quality of life, including education. Biden wants to allocate more money to schools, and touted his universal pre-K plan. “All the studies have shown it increases 54 percent the ability for them to go all the way to college. He also talked about giving a $15,000 credit to first time homebuyers.

“For me it’s been all about family and state and country, for real,” he said.

“The character of America is on the ballot, that’s what up for grabs.”

During a Biden for President press call with Black press outlets and reporters on Tuesday former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams advocated for Biden, saying the last four years have been chaotic with Trump.

With ongoing police brutality against Black communities, a recession spurred by the coronavirus pandemic, coupled with the ongoing coronavirus outbreaks as several states tick upwards in numbers, Abrams pointed out the lack of leadership during Trump’s administration, especially within the last 7 months.

“The other choice that we have is Joe Biden. A man who has proven that he can provide strong steady leadership. Someone who has listened to experts in the past and has helped guide this country through challenges both economic and health care related and someone who understands that we need a leader that can unite the country to deliver the results our family’s need so desperately in this moment,” Abrams said.

The Biden campaign will launch a series of ads targeting Black voters in battleground states including Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Ohio and Arizona. The 60-second ads will feature Biden’s running mate Sen. Kamala Harris issuing a final, closing appeal.  A second ad titled “Rise Up,” will emphasize that your right is your voice.

How To Get Your Hands On An Hermés Birkin Bag

How To Get Your Hands On An Hermés Birkin Bag By Nandi Howard ·October 26, 2020October 26, 2020

There’s truly no prediction on what will start a social media discourse week by week. Usually on Twitter, where trendy topics emerge and conversations begin, there’s a search engine of subjects that are ready to be picked apart. Most recently Hermés bags, particularly the Birkin, has fallen victim to being the latest hot topic.

There’s no one celebrity to point to that particularly made this conversation emerge. Our favorite It Girls like Cardi B, Rihanna, and Megan Thee Stallion have all been seen with this luxury item, but a recent video of Saweetie surfaced—while the rapper was promoting her new single “Back To The Streets,”—that left Twitter debating just how important a Birkin bag really is. “If he’s not buying you a Birkin, then send him back to the streets,” the Bay Area artist exclaimed.

Social media took to express their thoughts about this video. “Your man doesn’t have Quavo money and you don’t look like Saweetie. Let’s end the convo there,” one user wrote, while another said, “Saweetie that advice is too casual for me…. I’m a college student, where am I going to find a Quavo?”

Now that women rappers are showing off their Birkin bags, it seems like many more celebrities and Twitter users have weighed in on the conversation. Enough to make Offset defend the way in which Black people celebrate luxury. “Black people having access to luxury shouldn’t be a debate,” he wrote. Cardi also responded with a video posing the same question, “why don’t you all do this to white celebrities?”

Despite the Hermés item being widely discussed, it is actually quite a rare find. According to British Vogue, due the scarceness of the bag, most look to secondhand retailers to purchase this item. While similar inaria-label="British Vogue (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.vogue.co.uk/article/buying-an-hermes-bag" target="_blank">British Vogue, Giorgina Ramazzotti states “investing in a Birkin or Kelly bag is now a historically safer investment than the stock market.”

Starting at $10,000, if you’re lucky enough to snag this investment before the holidays, brands like Farfetch, Rebag, and Christie’s sell the hard-to-find Hermés bag. Check it out below.

Microbots Somersault Through the Colon to Deliver Drugs

https://nerdist.com/article/scientists-use-tiny-robots-to-deliver-drugs-inside-colon-butt/

As tiny, relatively primitive robots rapidly shrink in size, it’s becoming clear they may soon invade people’s bodies. Earlier this year, for example, a team of researchers showcased an ability to inject tiny bots via syringes. Now, another team of scientists says it has successfully deployed drug-delivery robots in vivo—by sticking them up a mouse’s butt and having the microbots roll around its colon.

Futurism reported on the breakthrough experiment, executed by scientists at the Solorio Lab at Purdue University in Indiana. The scientists, who published their findings in the journal Micromachines aimed to show that their microrobot design is “promising for targeted drug delivery” and other biomedical applications.

The tiny robots, which are only a few hairs wide, don’t have batteries, or any onboard form of collecting energy. Instead, the robots’ creators use magnetic fields to control the diminutive drug-delivery systems wirelessly.

“When we apply a rotating external magnetic field to these robots, they rotate just like a car tire would to go over rough terrain,” David Cappelleri said in a Purdue press release. Cappelleri, an associate professor of mechanical engineering and co-author of the paper, added, “The magnetic field also safely penetrates different types of mediums, which is important for using these robots in the human body.”

In the GIF and video above, the scientists show one of their microrobots moving through a sedated mouse’s colon. On top of that, the clips also show the robot properly delivering a fluorescent “mock drug” to the mouse. It does so by back-flipping to a particular location in the colon before its faux drug payload diffuses.

“We were able to get a nice, controlled release of the drug payload,” Luis Solorio added in Purdue’s press release. Solorio, an assistant professor at Purdue’s School of Biomedical Engineering, also said that, in the future, people could steer the microbots to a particular location in the human body, and then leave it there as its drug payload dissolves.

Moving forward, the scientists say medical professionals could use the microrobots as diagnostic tools as well as drug delivery systems. Common manufacturing machines, they say, could even produce hundreds of these microbots simultaneously. And when that happens, all we can do is heed Ray Arnold’s timeless life advice.

‘Social Distance’ Season 1, Episode 7: “everything is v depressing rn” — RECAP

https://blackgirlnerds.com/social-distance-season-1-episode-7-everything-is-v-depressing-rn-recap/

May 27, 2020: The world of video games is fun when you can be on a group call with friends and a crush, who all are streaming Overwatch co-op. Mia (Kylie Liya Page) shows off her skills as she plays and possibly gets her crush’s attention. After they finish, she gets a call from her friend Riley, hits her up on Discord to point out that her crush, Jake (David Iacono), is single and simping for her. Riley points out that Mia learned to be a supporting character on a game so that she and Riley could join Jake’s group to play with them.  Man, that is a hard crush. Even I am shipping them. Despite all this, Mia doesn’t think it to be true. She thinks that Jake is only into white girls.

Riley suggests that Mia try a TikTok dance to get his attention. Mia at first does not want to do it but decides to stalk Jake’s social to find out what he likes. The safest choice for Mia is to upload a video of Jake’s favorite: Messi. After a quick call from her mom (fluent Mandarin is spoken) checking on her and the progress of her homework, Mia receives a message from Jake. Like any good girl, she calls up Riley for help on what to do now that she has gotten Jake’s attention. Google is the best way to assist with lying to a boy about shared personal interests. This is not going to end well in my opinion.

Jake thinks Mia is cool and asks for her Snap. She hangs up on Riley immediately when she gets a message from him. He shows off his Messi drip. They have a good conversation going about how parents worry about the effects of the pandemic and how good Mia’s game has gotten when Jake suddenly stops messaging. A notification pops up that Jake added to his story. It’s a picture of him and a girl Kennedy back when they were kids to currently. Riley checks in on the relationship progress. The two go through Kennedy’s social which depresses Mia. Riley, being a good friend, reminds Mia that she is beautiful and just needs to remind Jake what he is missing out on. She gives Mia advice on the best way to take a photo.

Mia takes a selfie but goes through the process of editing the pic to the point of looking like an alien to me. Luckily, Jake hits her up with a decent explanation. He brings up VR chat and Mia brings up that she builds a campsite on hers. He asks to come by and see it. Riley is called in for assistance again. We must find the perfect avatar for this VR meet up. Riley thinks that the avatar that looks like Mia is probably best. Thankfully, Mia listens. Once Jake friends her, she takes him to her campsite. He brought a laser shooting cat because he knows she likes cats. That is too cute. She shows him the work she has done on the campsite during quarantine. This VR chat is a beautiful way to get away from things. Jake finds out that Mia has never been camping and suggests that they go sometime when they can.

Jake asks to take a picture of the two of them in this world. Riley messages Mia to remind her to tell Jake how she feels. Mia finally tells him how she feels, which he states was what he was going to tell her. The only reason why he is still playing Overwatch is because she’s on there. They share a cute moment, which is interrupted by Mia’s mom’s arrival. She closes the laptop despite Mia’s insistence not to.

The next day, Mia tries to reach out to Riley but gets no response. She is on the edge of her seat when she messages Jake but he doesn’t make her wait long. Apparently, her mom disconnected the Wi-Fi and took her phone because she didn’t finish her paper. Parenting 101 right there. Jake has posted the picture he took of them on his Finsta. The caption is just a heart. She likes it then goes through his photos, which are disappointing to say the least. Jake has racist memes that call COVID the Chinese virus. Mia is hurt by this. However, she doesn’t choose to unfollow him. Riley calls to check up on her and tells Mia to forget him, there is so much more going on in the world. Mia has no clue what Riley is talking about and checks her feed. Videos of protestors for George Floyd come up.

I will admit that for a portion of this episode, I had to ask little bro what some of these things they were playing or talking about. Socials I get, VR and video games are currently out of my lane. Finding out that Jake is racist was probably best for Mia. She lied about her interests to get his attention, which is not good. I do know how she feels, it sucks finding out that your crush is a bigot of some form. The ending leading to George Floyd is unexpected but we can’t avoid that topic. It had an impact.
