There’s many an argument to be had about the relative merits or un-merits (demerits?) of the Star Wars films in the Disney years, but one thing at which they’ve all excelled is looking amazing. The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and The Last Jedi have all been visually striking, and the first trailer for Solo looks to be following suit. So this needs to continue for J.J. AbramsEpisode IX, surely, and they’ve wasted no time in hiring one of the best art directors in the game. Paul Inglis, who was most recently the supervising art director for Blade Runner 2049, has joined the crew of the final Skywalker family film.

Inglis has an impressive list of credits as art director (usually credited as Supervising Art Director or Senior Art Director) including Children of Men, PrometheusSkyfall, and the entire first season of Game of Thrones. Blade Runner 2049 is perhaps his crowning achievement; it’s one of the best designed movies ever made, especially coupled with Roger Deakens’ Oscar-nominated cinematography. Though Inglis wasn’t given a nomination for his work on the brilliant sci-fi epic, each setting and future location is a masterpiece.

What Inglis also provides us, in terms of speculating about the next Star Wars film (something we deeply love to do), is get an idea for the kind of scenery we’re likely to see. The films and TV show listed above all have a certain sense of brutalism, featuring huge buildings and monoliths. Even Skyfall, which has the most “realistic” setting of the bunch, ends in a shootout in a massive old house that sits as a castle in the middle of the Scottish moors. So we might well see some colorful yet stony structures in the upcoming film. And let me tell you, a Star Wars movie looking like Blade Runner 2049 would be a cool-ass thing indeed.

2. After the foam is on place put basket filler on top.  You may chose to glue it in place.

3. This is the fun part!  Using the glue gun place a small amount of glue on the candy and place the skewer flat on the glue.

Cut skewers with utility scissors to make them different lengths — this makes a more pleasing bouquet!

4. Once it has cooled, arrange the candy skewers in the container.  Continue placing the candy in the container until you have the desired look. Trim skewers if necessary to give the bouquet a range of “flower” heights!

An Artist Recreated The ‘Black Panther’ Film Poster With Kids, And It’s Amazing

https://www.essence.com/entertainment/black-panther-film-poster-kids

As we all wait with baited breath for the release of Marvel’s Black Panther, one artist decided to reimagine the film’s poster with children. London-based Nigerian visual artist Àsìkò was commissioned by Looks Like Me, a talent agency that aims to redefine beauty and raise the profile of underrepresented groups in the United Kingdom. Though he was hesitant to work with children, Àsìkò lept at the chance to riff on Black Panther because it was one of his favorite comic books as a child. “As a kid who read comics Black Panther was one of the very few Black superheroes I came across,” he wrote on Instagram. “For a child, it is a beautiful thing to see yourself represented in a positive light in pop culture.” “What is also great is that it’s a hero steeped in culture and heritage and not drug deals or street thugging,” Àsìkò added. “[Ryan Coogler] and [Marvel Studios] have made a film that is part of the positive narrative changing views of Africa and the Black race and boy does it matter.” Black Panther opens February 16 and has already brought in millions in pre-sale tickets — in addition to campaigns for children around the world to see the film in their local theaters.

Could George Lucas Ever Return to STAR WARS?

http://nerdist.com/george-lucas-star-wars-infinity-war-peter-rabbit-nntb/

George Lucas helped out with a scene when he visited the set of Solo. Is it possible the creator of Star Wars would ever like to return to the galaxy far, far away? We discussed the possibility on today’s Nerdist News Talks Back, along with whether or not the latest Infinity War teasers are doing anything to get us more hyped for the movie, and if the Peter Rabbit controversy has merit.

Host Jessica Chobot was joined today by producer Jesse Gill, Mothership writer Amy Vorpahl, and Nerdist News writer Joey Clift, and they assembled to first look at the latest TV spot for Infinity War. There was almost nothing new in it, so they kicked off the discussion by questioning the point of releasing a short spot like this.

We also found out last week George Lucas helped direct a scene when he visited the Solo set. Does this mean he hasn’t truly let go of his Star Wars baby? It’s hard to imagine, but maybe there’s a possibility of him returning to Star Wars in a more official capacity.

Finally, like everyone predicted, the Peter Rabbit movie has led to controversy, with Sony apologizing for how it depicted a food allergy. Is this too much sensitivity, or are parents right to be upset?

Remember Nerdist News Talks Back airs live on our YouTube and Alpha channels at 1 p.m. PT Monday through Thursday. Starting this Friday, Nerdist News What the Fridays will kick off; it’s our brand new hour long show recapping the week in pop culture, and it will air at 1 p.m. PT exclusively on Alpha.

No, George Lucas will not be involved with the show. Unless he wants to be, then he’s definitely welcomed to help out. The guy did create Star Wars after all.

We still want to hear from you about today’s show, so talk back to us in the comments below.
