Holy Kenobi! According to the official Star Wars website, Deborah Chow has been hired to direct the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars TV series centered on Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. It is unclear at this time if she will direct the entire series–which is said to be either six or eight episodes–or just part of it. Either way, this is a huge deal for Lucasfilm, as Chow is one of the first women to step behind the camera for a Star Wars project, and certainly the first one to do it in such a large way. She will be joined by Hossein Amini (Drive), who is writing the series.

Kenobi won’t be the first time Chow has made her way to the galaxy far, far away; the Canadian-Chinese director  previously helmed episodes of the streaming service’s other upcoming Star Wars series The Mandalorian, which is set to debut this November. Her other TV credits include episodes of American Gods, Better Call Saul, Lost In Space, Jessica Jones, Reign, Mr. Robot and Iron Fist. She also directed the TV movie Flowers in the Attic for Lifetime.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been a much-talked-about project for a long time now, and has already gone through several iterations. McGregor has expressed interest in returning to the role–which was originated by Alec Guinness in the original 1977 Star Wars, and which McGregor portrayed in The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith–for quite some time. But the series was finally confirmed at this year’s D23 Convention in Anaheim. There, McGregor joined Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy on stage to announce that he would, indeed, play Kenobi again.

Before the project was officially confirmed to be a TV series for Disney+, it was going to be a standalone film directed by Oscar-nominee Stephen Daldry, who’s also known for his television work on Netflix’s The Crown. According to The Hollywood Reporter, those plans changed after Solo: A Star Wars Story–Disney’s Han Solo standalone film–performed to overwhelming box office returns.

It’s hard to guess exactly what will happen in the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series. It will clearly take place after the events of Revenge of the Sith and before the events of A New Hope, where an elderly Kenobi becomes a mentor for Luke Skywalker and is killed by Darth Vader. We’ve seen a bit of Kenobi’s life in that timeline on the animated series Star Wars Rebels, where he duels the believed-to-be-dead Darth Maul on Tatooine, but other than that, his life on the desert planet is largely mysterious. Will the new series incorporate familiar characters, or send Kenobi off on a new adventure, in locations we haven’t seen before?

Anything is possible in the galaxy far, far away. We know with a talent like Deborah Chow behind-the-scenes, we have nothing to worry about. In the meantime, as we wait patiently for more Kenobi news, we have The Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to look forward to. It’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan.

Late last year, Kandi Burruss revealed that despite she and her husband Todd Tucker’s best efforts the couple had not been able to conceive. As we reported earlier, the now 43-year-old “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star shared that after having a fibroid removed and undergoing a round of IVF treatment, they were able to welcome their son Ace Wells Tucker.

But the journey to have another child has been more challenging.

Eventually, the two decided to utilize a surrogate. And according to PEOPLE, Burruss and Tucker are currently awaiting the birth of their second child together.

Their surrogacy journey will be documented on season 12 of RHOA.

This will be the fourth child they’re welcoming to the family. In addition to Ace, the son they share together, Kandi has a 16-year-old Riley from a previous relationship and Todd has a 22-year-old daughter Kaela.

Kandi spent last season of the show trying to convince Todd to use a surrogate. After meeting a potential candidate through their OBGYN, Dr. Jackie Walters, of“Married To Medicine,” he agreed.

But Todd wasn’t the only one who had to overcome some hurdles about the concept of another woman carrying their child.

During the RHOA reunion last season, Kandi got emotional as she shared a moment Andy Cohen had to remind her of her role in this future child’s life.

“I had made a comment. I said something like, ‘I guess I’m gonna have a baby mama.’ And he said to me, ‘Don’t you ever say that because you are the mother. And to say she’s your baby’s mom is taking away from you.’ It made me feel better.”

Congratulations to Kandi and Todd! We’re praying for a safe and healthy delivery.

Is Rudy Giuliani Okay?

https://www.themarysue.com/is-rudy-giuliani-okay/

Rudy Giuliani looks concerned in a close-up.

Rudy Giuliani is trying hard to place himself front and center in the current impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump.

Last week, he had a bit of a screamy meltdown on CNN, where said the allegations that he had helped Trump pressure the Ukrainian president to dig up dirt on Joe Biden’s son were “ridiculous” right before admitting he did that exact thing and that he’s “proud of it.”

Now that Nancy Pelosi has opened a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump (including into that very thing Giuliani admitted to doing on his behalf), Giuliani appears to be in full freak-out mode. He called the now-released whistleblower complaint “total nonsense” while also making it clear that he had an exit strategy in place and it involved taking a whole bunch of people down with him.

He also gave a really weird interview to Elaina Pott at The Atlantic that read like a legit supervillain rant.

“It is impossible that the whistle-blower is a hero and I’m not. And I will be the hero! These morons—when this is over, I will be the hero,” Guiliani said.

That’s definitely a totally normal thing that not-evil people say in a very reasonable tone of voice.

Giuliani continued, saying. “I’m not acting as a lawyer. I’m acting as someone who has devoted most of his life to straightening out government. Anything I did should be praised.” Plott described him as “nearly shouting” and “sounding out of breath.”

Giuliani then went and backtracked on that whole “not acting as a lawyer” thing.

This not-a-lawyer also won’t say whether or not he has security clearance. “Doesn’t matter keep chasing irrelevant info,” he texted The Daily Beast.

Meanwhile, Trump’s allies seem to be turning on him, either because they’re really sick of him or because he’s making himself the obvious scapegoat.

According to NBC, a former senior White House official “said that Giuliani’s claim that he worked through the State Department to coordinate his talks is highly questionable.” The former official said Giuliani should have “nothing to do with any of this stuff.”

“It’s Giuliani who’s really dragged the president into something that’s a legal matter and a political matter and will be part of impeachment,” the former official said. “What Giuliani did, there’s no argument that it was a legitimate, government, law enforcement endeavor.”

Yet Trump, who is often quick to abandon even his most loyal allies when it becomes politically expedient, was notably supportive of Giuliani when asked about him during a meeting with Ukraine’s president on Wednesday. He even praised Giuliani’s recent appearances on television.

Trump will like pretty much anyone who praises and defends him–which Giuliani has been doing–even if that person is incriminating themselves at the same time–which Giuliani has also been doing.

What a hero.
