Well….we started from the bottom and now we’re here-Election Day! Listen to the latest episode of the Mid Week in Review (MWIR) as engineered by the Afronerd Radio steam engine and powered via the BTalk 100 platform. MWIR airs every Wednesday at 8pm eastern. Tune into your AFROnerdist broadcasters as they dissect the following issues: the aforementioned presidential election: who won or is there a clear winner? are there any pockets of unrest and/or violence and from which side of th political spectrum (or both?); Kotaku.com highlights Microsoft and its Xbox division’s recent pledge to pursue greater diversity in their ranks, specifically blacks in the gaming industry; noted actor, LaKeith Stanfield (Get Out, Sorry to Bother You, Death Note) has been tapped for his vocal talents in Yasuke, an upcoming Netflix anime project about real life eponymous African samurai; and we never did speak on Netflix’ growing anime presence from Sunday’s Grindhouse; a recent Hollywood Reporter piece highlights notable black actors (John Boyega, Letitia Wright) and director, Steve McQueen regarding an upcoming Amazon anthology series entitled, Small Axe; wow….black horror really is…..a thing; what’s up with Netflix’ His House?; or even Hulu’s Bad Hair?; so Disney+ intends to reboot the Percy Jackson & The Olympians franchise for streaming? But what about (like everything else) the films’ diversity issues? ; And lastly, after John Boyega publicly spoke about his character’s unfair depiction in the Star Wars franchise films, it appears that Disney reached out to him.
