Greetings to our loyal AFROnerdists! Join us each and every Sunday for Afronerd Radio’s infamous The Grindhouse broadcast-airing this Sunday at 6 p.m. eastern on BTalk 100.  The topics du jour are: our impressions of the highly touted back-to-back superhero genre streaming movies/shows, Zack Snyder’s Justice League (HBO Max) and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (Disney+); dovetailing off of  The Falcon series, a Washington Post piece delves into a possible (and canonical) storyline in which the Sam Wilson character picks up the shield and assumes the Captain America mantle.  Is the USA ready for a Black Captain America?: and yet there’s still more fallout post actress, Gina Carano’s firing from the extremely popular Disney+ The Mandalorian series. A recent Forbes piece ponders there appears to be a double standard along political lines concerning who can say what and not get brought into a controversy: a story that we failed to address a few shows ago connects to the reparations discussion-a LA County official is mulling over the return of beachfront to the family of the original Black owners; the Marvel’s Avengers video game has a new trailer showcasing a forthcoming War for Wakanda expansion:

And speaking of reparations, it appears that Evanston, Illinois is a test case for some Black residents receiving a stipend for past discriminatory practices; a proposal in Congress would deem June 19th a national holiday to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved Africans in North America; lastly, it looks like notable CBS TV producer/writer, Chuck Lorre (Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men) is under Twitter fire for his new show, United States of Al concerning his handling of an Afghan character.
