One of the biggest chuckles of the issue comes when Superman calls in reinforcements to look into Conner’s backstory and everyone slowly realizes—and quickly accepts—that there’s multiple universe. There’s even a joke about how many times DC has been rebooted.

Birds of Prey #1

Birds of Prey #1 Cover

In short, the respective Birds of Prey all get wrapped up in a case of a drug cartel bringing fentanyl into Gotham City. As they come together to take on their shared enemy, they earn each other’s trust and respect and show us what their motivations are. They’re all deeply flawed but looking to be better.

Faithless Vol. 1

Best way that I can describe Faithless is that is a supernatural horror erotica comic, and those adjectives may or may not be in the correct order. This is very much a not safe work piece of fiction, rated M for mature, but if you’re willing to take the plunge, you’ll be treated to a visually tantalizing book that re-contextualizes the unholy trinity of sex, death, and magic. And as sacrilegious as it might be to say, I think that’s a good thing.

John Constantine: Hellblazer #6

John Constantine: Hellblazer #6 Cover

Constantine, as a character, has this commendable ability where he’s so cool under the worst kinds of pressure that you genuinely believe everything will be fine. His actions in this issue are no different. Even as he’s being brought to the brink of death, he’s almost certain he’ll be fine and is more focused about saving someone else. He also has more than his fair share of witty commentary on global politics, which I’m always a fan of. (Note: Keep putting politics in my comics.)

A Man Among Ye #1 (Advanced Review)

Anne’s introduction as a bold and brazen as any pirate fan could hope for. Her aura is commanding and while she might not be the captain of the vessel, she still gets the job done. Although, this is still 1720 we’re talking about here, the majority of the crew doesn’t exactly hold her in the highest esteem, but that’s just the way things were… and are to degree.
