TI and Tiny

It’s very seldom that we see rapper T.I. pour out his heart, but on Friday (July 14), he did just that.

The occasion? The birthday of his now estranged wife, Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris. While the world seemingly watched their split play out publicly on their reality TV, the two seem to still be spending time with one another. Being married for seven years and having known Tiny for over a decade, their relationship and bond is apparently one that can’t be broken. And T.I. made sure he made that known while wishing her a happy birthday on Instagram.

He posted a 10-photo collage capturing their many moments throughout the years with the caption, “Happy Gday to my beautiful lovely lil loud mouth, argumentative know it all, sh*t kickin,Cap a** Southside Patna. @majorgirl.” “As a couple We’ve experienced some of the greatest moments in our lives together & burnt a hole in a bunch of big bags of money, in some of the most beautiful places in the world. And while I may have f*cked up & still have so many more f*ck ups in me on so many levels, one thing that’s never gon’ change is how I consider you….You are, have been, & always will be one of the Best Friends I have in the world,” he continued.

T.I. went on to talk about the evolution of their relationship and where they stand today amid the drama. “While most of these nosey, no business havin’, overly-opinionated, fake caring a** people would see it as a break up… I see it differently,” he wrote. “In my eyes, we didn’t break up, we EVOLVED into something unconditional. A relationship that supersedes fidelity, physical presence, or any other disagreement we may have faced.”

Tiny responded to his message, saying, “Aww Big Daddy can’t do nothing but say I will always love you forever and a day.”

She went on to say, “My one of a kind King/patna lol…I’ll let you slide this time with that one,” she added. “Anywho [thanks] for everything especially those [seven] kids. Now show up and show out like I know you to do!”

While their divorce is still pending, T.I. and Tiny were spotted vacationing together her in St. Lucia. Whether or not these two get back together isn’t really any of our business but we wish them both the best.

Happy birthday, Tiny! Read the full birthday message T.I. sent Tiny below.

Happy Gday to my beautiful lovely lil loud mouth, argumentative know it all, shit kickin,Cap ass Southside Patna. @majorgirl As a couple We’ve experienced some of the greatest moments in our lives together & burnt a hole in a bunch of big bags of money,in some of the most beautiful places in the world. And while I may have fucked up & still have so many more fuck ups in me on so many levels, one thing that’s never gon change is how I consider you…. You are, have been,& always will be one of the Best Friends I have in the world. We’ve done just about all there is to do,good & bad. I remember for a long time we couldn’t even spend a day apart from one another we were so emotionally connected. Then we were forced to “do time” apart back to back.(That shit sucked huh?) Then we popped back up on they ass and showed the world how cool raising kids could be on Family Hustle. While that may have put a few million more people than we’d like in our personal intimate business,it also became an example for so many who didn’t have one in the areas of parenting, family & marriage in HipHop…. That’s some real stand up shit to be proud of. We have 7 amazing kids who all have enough skills, smarts, talent and ability to take care of us in our old age….Now That’s awesome!!! And while most of these nosey, no business havin,overly-opinionated,fake caring ass people would see it as a break up… I see it differently. In my eyes,we didn’t break up,we EVOLVED into something unconditional. A relationship that supersedes fidelity, physical presence,or any other disagreement we may have faced. What we have is stronger than the bullshit & for that I’m thankful. We’ve taught each other things that’ll allow us to continue to raise hell & kick shit for many many moons. Keep pressing your line & polishing your shine Mrs.H… Enjoy this day that’s a celebration of the day the lord gave US You!!! Kick Big Shit Fa That!!!! With Eternal Love Respect & Admiration, 👑Tip👑BIG Daddy👑King Sr👑Mr Harris. #HappyBirthdayMrsH

CurlFest 2017: A Sea of Black Girl Magic, Curls, and Kinks

http://www.blackenterprise.com/lifestyle/curlfest-2017-black-girl-magic-curls-kinks/

Curl Fest

For the third consecutive year, hundreds of women of color will convene in Brooklyn, New York, to celebrate their hair and heritage at CurlFest this Saturday. The annual one-day festival was launched in 2014 by the Curly Girl Collective, an experiential marketing group that specializes in multicultural beauty, as a way to empower women with naturally kinky or curly hair.

During the event, attendees will have an opportunity to hear from beauty experts, bloggers, and social influencers as well as shop for beauty products, fashion, jewelry, and accessories. They can also participate in fun games and a dance-off.

Last year, attendees traveled from around the world—even from as far as Brazil and France—to join in on the festivities at the 2016 CurlFest, which Black Enterprise’s Raven Davis described as a remarkable experience of “curls and kinks galore.” Davis also spoke to one of the founders of Curly Girl Collective, Charisse Higgins, about the growth of her business and CurlFest, which is now recognized as the largest natural beauty festival in the world.

Since the beginning of the Curly Girl Collective movement in 2011 the five co-founders have gone from curating small events and panels for women with natural hair to launching CurlFest in 2014 which has quadrupled in the number of attendees, clients and sponsors.

Charisse believes what makes Curly Girl Collective and CurlFest different is “the sense of community that is created through the movement. Prior to the very first CurlFest in 2014, the co-founders planned to “reach more people—connect more people to the brands and bloggers they love and have fun celebrating natural beauty.”

The fun begins this Saturday, July 15 at noon at Prospect Park in Brooklyn.  For more information, visit www.curlygirlcollective.com.

ABFF and Lightbox Launch Documentary Film Competition for Black Filmmakers

http://www.blackenterprise.com/lifestyle/documentary-film-competition-black-filmmakers/

Film Competition

If you’re an African American filmmaker with an original documentary idea, then don’t miss this opportunity to sign up for the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Feature Documentary Competition. Select films entered into the competition will have their movie idea developed and produced by ABFF Films Division and Lightbox, a media company that has produced several acclaimed documentaries, including ESPN’s Fantastic Lies and LA 92, which is based on the 1992 L.A. riots following the acquittal of the police officers in the Rodney King beating case.

“We are honored to be partnering with the ABFF to encourage further diversity in the documentary genre.” said Lightbox co-founders Jonathan Chinn and Simon Chinn in a statement. “The documentary community has a rich tradition of embracing creative voices from a wide array of demographics and perspectives, but there is clearly more work for us to do to support African-American and filmmakers from minority communities who want to express themselves through the powerful medium of documentary story telling.”

The inaugural Feature Documentary Competition, which is being sponsored by National Geographic and 21st Century Fox, is part of a larger initiative created by ABFF and Lightbox to promote diversity in documentary films.

According to ABFFVentures.com, the submission guidelines and eligibility rules are as follows:

  1. Open to African American documentary filmmakers and others interested in exploring non-fiction stories and themes that speak directly to the African-American experience.
  2. Filmmakers must complete and submit the official entry form, downloadable from www.abffventures.com/films, along with the following two items which complete a single “proposal.”
    1. a 1-3 page documentary feature film treatment (.pdf file). Written treatments are to clearly articulate the narrative and creative ambition of the documentary.
    2. a 2-5 minute “proof of concept reel” (in the form of a standard digital video file, protected by a password). The reel must clearly demonstrate the proposed feature documentary in any manner the applicant feels is relevant. Proof of concept reel may include original or 3rd party footage for the purposes of illustrating the story, themes and style of the proposed documentary
  3. Filmmakers may submit up to three (3) proposals each.
  4. All film proposals must be wholly originated by the applicant and cannot have received any funding prior to submission.
  5. Filmmakers must submit proposals to docs@abffventures.com by no later than July 30, 2017.
  6. Three semi-finalists will be selected, followed by one winner who will receive the opportunity to enter into a development deal with ABFF Films and Lightbox (Fall 2017).

For full details, visit www.abffventures.com/films/. The deadline for entry is July 30.
